**Job summary**:
This is an exciting role to within the Project Management Office (PMO) for Department for Business and Trade’s new Office for the Office of Trade Sanctions Implementation (OTSI) which forms part of the Trade Defence Directorate.

OTSI is part of a cross government approach to enforcing sanctions against rogue states more rigorously with OTSI leading work on civil sanctions.

As job holder, you will oversee Secretariat, Governance and Assurance work, leading reporting to the senior Steering Group and other bodies including the FCDO’s Economic Deterrence Initiative which is providing funding for this work.

Since you will be working with senior figures across the Directorate and in other government departments, the role will require strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, along with a good understanding of key project management disciplines such as planning, reporting and risk management.

**Job description**:

- Project Management - Day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team. Provide effective leadership and management controls. Set project controls. Design the project structure and organisation appropriate to stage. Set appropriate delivery methodologies. Manage effective transition between project phases.
- Stakeholder Management - support good stakeholder relationships. Manage internal and external relationships as appropriate.
- Risks & Issues/ Dependencies - Oversee management of the Risk Register including identifying and monitoring project risks and issues, and dependencies. Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate. Identify and work with related projects to manage interdependencies.
- Governance - Support effective governance and decision making of the Project Board by taking an effective note of the meeting including Actions. Provide quality input to reporting asks and own the dashboard.
- Assurance - Support appropriate project assurance activities under steer of the Senior Project Manager.
- Change Management - Support work to develop an effective Change Management Plan to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.

**Hybrid Working**

The role will be based in either Darlington or London.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DBT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average.

If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.

**Person specification**:
**Essential Criteria**
- Proven project delivery record including governance and reporting.
- A good understanding of and effective management of stakeholder needs
- Proven ability to co-ordinate multiple activities and work streams, handling shifting demands and priorities, to deliver a customer requirement or business benefit.
- Excellent written and communication skills, with ability to draft and deliver effective project management documents swiftly and accurately.

**Desirable Criteria**
- Project delivery experience and recognised qualifications.
