TEACHER OF COMPUTING and IT - MATERNITY COVER

Tradewind are delighted to be working with a large, oversubscribed 11-18 mixed comprehensive school in their recruitment of a Computer Science maternity teacher.

This school boasts modern facilities on an attractive site in a pleasant catchment area of Bromley. The school consistently achieves excellent results, was judged to be 'good 'in all areas in its OFSTED inspection in January 2019 and is a designated TeachingSchool. It is an excellent place to work.

Required as a maternity cover position for February 2023, a well-qualified full time Teacher of Computing and IT. This position is open to ECTs. You will be working in a forward looking and supportive department with successful and committed staff.

The school consistently achieves excellent results and was judged to be 'good' in all areas in its OFSTED inspection in January 2019. The school was awarded the World Class Schools Quality Mark in 2015 and again in 2018 and 2021. The school provides excellentopportunities for career development and a full support programme for all new staff. All staff have access to sports facilities, Local Government Pension Scheme, and a private employee assistance programme.

At Key Stage 4 Computer Science can be taken as an option. Pupils who choose to take Computer Science as an option at Year 10 follow the GCSE Computer Science (OCR) course. All KS4 pupils follow the school's own in-house scheme of work. In the Sixth Form,students have the option to study the BTEC Nationals in IT (Edexcel) and A Level Computer Science (OCR). We run a programming club after school.

There are five dedicated IT rooms equipped with sufficient computers for pupils to work individually. The school is fully networked with full wireless connectivity throughout. All teachers are provided with a school tablet or laptop. Their internet connectionallows access to our virtual learning environment (SharePoint) and extensive use is made of Office 365 and OneNote. Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard. The school has an IT Network Manager who is responsible for the network and the servicing andmaintenance of equipment, assisted by a Deputy and other Technicians. Software used includes Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access, OneNote, Teams) Programming languages include Small Basic and Python. The school network runsa mixed environment of Windows 7 and Windows 10 in combination with Microsoft Office 2013 and 2016, for students and staff respectively.

The school's IT Department is a centre of excellence for IT and Computing. They seek to lead the way in IT and Computing within the curriculum and increase opportunities for staff and students to develop and extend their skills. Computer Science and BTECIT are popular choices in the Sixth Form.
