**Job Context**:
The housing project currently provides short term temporary accommodation for single homeless vulnerable young people. The accommodation project is open 24/7 - 365 days a year. We operate a 152-bed hostel for disadvantaged young adults between the ages of 18 and 35 with a pressing housing need from a variety of backgrounds including: offending, mental health, domestic violence and alcohol & drug abuse. The relationship with our young people is based on guiding them and supporting them in making the best use of the resources and facilities available to them and ultimately supporting the transition to independent living - commitment to which is a condition of continued residence. It is this holistic approach to the needs of the young people - integrated access to affordable accommodation, training, personal development, guidance and job searching facilities - that makes us different to other housing and hostel providers.

It is the Organisation’s intention that this job description is seen as a guide to the major areas and duties for which the employee is accountable. 1.1 To ensure that initial assessments and risk assessment with prospective clients are carried out within the prescribed time limits and that the resident once accepted is fully and carefully inducted into the project. To conduct needs and risk assessments of residents, develop outcome-focused support plans with residents.

1.2 Support in settling into the project, support in maintaining the licence, developing domestic/life skills, developing social skills/behaviour management, advice, advocacy and liaison, Support in managing finances and maximising benefit claims, emotional support and general counselling, support in gaining access to other services, support in establishing social contacts and participation in activities. Support with attending external appointments.

1.3 Provide outreach support to young person that moves-on into independence living in the form of one-hour floating support per week for 6 months. To help facilitate the young person’s transition into independence and provide stability in a period of change.

1.4 Provide an advice and advocacy service to a caseload of residents who present with long-term and complex needs, case working a smaller and more consistent caseload than other members of the team but working with them more intensively

1.5 To support the rent/income team with all aspects of rent and arrears for your allocated residents. This will include support with delivering rent statements, managing residents rent accounts, delivering rent arrears letters and repayment agreements with the support of the rent/income team.

1.6 To manage all aspects of anti-social behaviour for your allocated residents, this can include attending ASB panels and also producing and delivering warning letters. Liaising with the local authority and informing them of any incidents involving Funded clients. Meet with external stakeholders to discuss major incidents.

1.7 Employing creative thinking and practices to ensure that residents are supported and motivated to achieve their goals, primarily to access and maintain accommodation and develop durable support networks

1.8 Ensure that residents are aware of health, safety and security Policies and Procedures, deal with health, wellbeing, safety and security issues raised by staff members or residents, ensure that residents understand the Procedures for reporting abuse or neglect, deal with abuse or neglect issues raised by residents, co-operate with external agencies in relation to abuse or neglect issues, ensure that residents are aware of the Association’s Complaints Procedures, encourage residents to use the Complaints Procedures, deal with complaints from residents.

1.9 To support those who have complex needs including clients with mental health, substance misuse, complex support needs etc. Provide one to one support and interventions for those who have complex needs, ensuring they have access to appropriate information including treatment options, harm minimisation interventions and support to engage with treatment agencies. Reporting via Reports and Workbooks to the Local Authority in regards to funded clients. Using inform platform to update the status of funded residents at YMCA London City and North.

1.10 Manage all support aspects of an identified caseload of customers with complex needs and undertaking full key working responsibilities, deliver innovative and best practice in supporting customers, including implementing a variety of key working techniques to suit the needs of the individual customer and have strategies in place to engage those that can often be ‘difficult to engage.
