We are looking for a switchboard operator who will serve as a vital point of contact for Isabel Hospice, ensuring patients and their families can communicate effectively with relevant departments regarding their care.

The position is based at our Head Office in Welwyn Garden City, with working hours from 2pm to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Additionally, flexibility is required to cover other daytime shifts within the switchboard's operational hours, which are from 8:15 am to 5:00 pm. These shifts include:

- Early shift: 8:15 am to 11:30 am
- Mid shift: 11:15 am to 2:15 pm
- Late shift: 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

About the role
- Managing incoming and outgoing calls via the 3CX phone system, directing them to the appropriate departments
- Taking messages and ensuring they reach the relevant personnel promptly
- When necessary, handling incoming calls, recording messages on SystmOne, and forwarding them to appropriate clinical staff
- Assisting with general office administrative tasks as needed
- Providing coverage for absences during annual or sick leave within the switchboard team

About you
- Previous experience in reception and/or office roles
- Strong telephone etiquette and communication skills
- Exceptional organisational abilities and the capacity to perform under pressure
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team
- Demonstrates supportiveness, confidentiality, empathy, and efficiency
