**What we are looking for**:
**Job Title**: Billing Officer
**Department**: Finance
**Salary**: £18,000 per annum (pro-rata from £30,000)
**Hours**: 22.5 hours per week
**Work type**: 3 days per week in the office - flexible on days
**Contract type**: 12-Months Fixed-Term-Contract
**Role Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Accurate Billing**: Generate detailed bills promptly and accurately to facilitate timely reimbursement and uphold financial stability for the hospital.
- I**nsurance Claims**: Prepare and submit insurance claims meticulously, adhering to timelines and requirements to minimise claim denials and ensure prompt reimbursement.
- **Patient Communication**: Address patient inquiries regarding billing statements, insurance coverage, and payment options courteously and promptly, fostering patient satisfaction and trust.
- **Payment Follow-up**: Monitor outstanding accounts receivable, identifying overdue payments and discrepancies, and initiate collection efforts to minimise revenue loss and improve cash flow.
- **Regulatory Compliance**: Stay updated on healthcare billing regulations and ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines, participating in training to remain current.
- **Efficiency Improvement**: Analyse billing reports to identify trends and areas for improvement, implementing process enhancements to optimise billing efficiency and accuracy.
- **Collaboration**: Work collaboratively with finance, medical records, and patient services departments to streamline billing processes and resolve issues efficiently.
**Qualifications**:
- Previous experience in medical billing, preferably within a healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with EDI Billing systems such as Healthcode or Patientzone.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and EHR systems.
- Strong understanding of medical billing processes, including coding and reimbursement.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
