We are looking for an experienced Policy Manager to take on leadership of a small yet impactful policy team. This role is vital to the delivery of IPSA’s ambitious plans to make sure that the regulatory scheme is fit for purpose, futureproofed and meetsthe needs of MPs and their staff.

**About the role**:
This role sits within IPSA’s policy and engagement function. The policy team provides research, analysis and recommendations to senior management and the Board on IPSA policy issues, including on MPs’ business costs, pay and remuneration, and are responsiblefor ensuring that IPSA’s regulatory rules are fit for purpose. The team also ensures that high-quality, timely policy advice is provided across IPSA teams, supporting our aim of excellent customer service.

You’ll lead and coordinate work on policy development, including the development of a new regulatory policy framework and you’ll manage the day-to-day work of the team, helping to ensure robust policy-making that takes into account operational impacts andcustomer feedback. You’ll interact with all parts of IPSA, including the Executive Leadership Team and Board. This is a customer-facing role requiring engagement with MPs, their staff and key stakeholders.

**Main responsibilities**:

- Leadership of the team’s policy advisory service
- Planning and coordinating delivery of complex policy projects, including contributing to the development of a new regulatory policy framework for IPSA
- Helping to ensure that policy development is robust, evidence-based, collaborative and sensitive to operational impacts, customer needs and the external environment
- Working with stakeholders across the organisation and externally to ensure that policy changes are implemented successfully
- Providing briefings, papers and presentations to the IPSA Board, including options and recommendations for policy change
- Line management of four team members and deputising for the Head of Policy as needed.

**What we are looking for**:
You’ll have a strong understanding of the policy development process and demonstrable experience of providing policy advice in other reputable organisations. You’ll be comfortable using data and information from multiple sources and you’ll be able to formulatepolicy options and recommendations, taking account of complex factors.

With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you’ll be comfortable liaising with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, for example, with executive leadership and Board members, government departments and other stakeholders.

Effective team leadership is very important and your sharp eye for detail will help you keep multiple pieces of work on track. As a line manager, you support, motivate and empower staff, and you’ll be able to bring people together to achieve a goal.
