We are looking for an experienced Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or Speech and Language Therapist to join the Criminal Justice Liaison & Diversion Team (CJLD) to set up and run a new service in Bournemouth Crown Court.

The CJLD Service supports people with mental health and substance misuse issues, learning disabilities and other vulnerabilities who are going through the criminal justice system. The Service aims to improve their overall health outcomes and support them in the reduction of re-offending, identify vulnerabilities that could lead to crisis point and ensure the right support can be put in place.

This award winning service has been operating in police custody and Magistrates’ Courts for 9 years and has recently expanded to include people invited to attend a voluntary interview and those being released from prison.

We have been commissioned to supply the same excellent service in Crown Court. As an experienced and pro-active mental health clinician, working closely with the Team’s Project Manager and colleagues in Court, you will plan and mobilise the new service, then act as the single point of contact for Judges, Probation, Court Officials, Police and the Prison Service. We never rest on our laurels so you will carry out regular quality improvement projects, to ensure new initiatives and changing service needs are met

Your excellent clinical skills will be used to assess defendants, then plan, implement and evaluate their care. You will provide clinical advice and support to colleagues and assist in the production of probation and medical reports

As a senior member of the CJLD Service, you will gather and analyse outcome data relating to KPIs and CQUINs, presenting this information to the commissioners and other partner agencies at regular board meetings, ensuring that performance targets are met. You will also be part of the CJLD management team providing strong and effective leadership to support and inspire colleagues to improve standards and develop professional practice.

Employment with the Service is dependent upon passing the Police vetting process. As this is a new role in an ever-developing environment we highly suggest you contact the service before applying.
