**Overview
- To provide an excellent standard of customer service to all service users,
including the effective issuing and return of library stock, encouraging and
supporting people to self-serve, and maintaining the quality of the library or
community centre environment.
2. To carry out cash handling routines and operating a till to ensure compliance
with financial procedures and processes.
3. To support new customers, use / join the services.
4. To undertake all aspects of stock work, including processing new books, collection management reports, shelf tidying and maintenance of displays.
5. To support the professional appearance and good working order of the library,
reporting any operational issues to Senior Customer Advisors and/or other
council departments where necessary.
6. To participate in the planning, organising and delivery of library events, for
example, storytelling, children's activities and other reading promotional
initiatives.
7. To support library customers in using the full range of ICT and digital services
and resources available.
8. To answer customer enquiries at point of contact and refer on as necessary to
on the telephone communications.
9. To assist the Senior Customer Advisors in the recording of timely and
accurate management information and feedback from customers to support
service performance.
10.To assist in the promotion of the library services, local history & archive
services to all customers.
11.To work flexibly and cooperatively with other staff and volunteers assigned to
the site.
12.To adhere to all local service policies, procedures and guidelines.
13.To take responsibility for attending relevant learning and development courses
to support personal development.
14.To carry out all duties in line with all relevant council objectives, policies,
procedures and processes, including but not limited to health and safety,
equality and diversity, data protection, information security, the council's code
of conduct and values and behaviours framework.
15.To assist in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of customers, following any
policies and procedures in place, and reporting/escalating issues to Senior
Customer Advisors as necessary.
16.To work flexibly across all the service where assigned, including working any
weekends and evenings, and opening and closing buildings.
17.To undertake other such duties commensurate with the general level of
responsibility of this role and service needs
