We are excited to announce this exciting role working as part of the London Vanguard in Camden. The post holder will be part of an innovative new service, working within a multidisciplinary team to engage and divert young people away from the criminal justice system. The role involves working closely with the clinical team to provide outreach support to young people and their families, using creative strategies to facilitate engagement, improve their well-being, and empower them to be part of developing services to help their community. This role has a specific focus on working alongside parents and carers of young people impacted by violence in their community in order to co-design strategies for improving their lives and the lives of their children/young person.
- To work closely with the clinical lead and wider outreach team to engage with young people across Camden.
- To work closely with the team to plan interventions for young people and parents/carers in the local community drawing upon psychological principles - trauma-informed approaches.
- To engage with young people and parents/carers at their own pace in an informal community-based context, utilising principles of co-production.
- To reach out to parents and carers and co-design support options with them, as well as thinking creatively about opportunities to empower parents/carers to lead on initiatives.
- To establish a supportive and respectful relationship with young people and their families
- To support the team in helping young people and parents/carers identify their own achievable and meaningful goals and set objectives
- To support young people and parents/carers in co-producing aspects of the service through encouraging consistent feedback and creative projects
- To support young people and parents/carers to identify and overcome fears and within a relationship of empathy, trust and honesty
- To accompany young people and/or parents/carers to related appointments/meetings and perform a range of practical tasks, aligned to their goals.
- To act as a positive role model showing professional and caring attitudes and behaviour towards other multi-disciplinary team members, service users and carers.

Further duties
- To attend multiagency operational management meetings, working with a wide range of professionals to contribute to the success of the vanguard intervention
- To build working relationships and to provide consultancy or other support to teams and organisations working with young people and their families, including YOS, probation, prisons/YOIs.
- To share responsibility for managing the project’s petty cash system, budgeting for activities that may be co-produced with young people, parents/carers.
- To ensure notes are written accordingly within the policy of the Trust.
- To use own initiative and job related training in deciding on the approach and interventions required when working with a young person and parents/carers, in line with supervision and other professionals
- To work in a way that acknowledges the personal, social, cultural and spiritual strengths and needs of the individual

Communication
- Manage highly sensitive information in a thoughtful manner
- Use initiative to planning and organize activities for young people
- Ability to present information, write and produce written reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, in writing and face to face with a wide range of people including: Young people, their families, other agencies and professionals, in a variety of settings.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and motivate young people and their network.

People (HR) Management
- Attend team meetings and participate in clinical formulation meetings, mappings, planning, learning spaces.
- To raise awareness of trauma informed practice with Trust staff within all areas of work.

Training & Development
- To participate in regular supervision in accordance with good practice guidelines and Trust policy.
- To participate in the Trust’s annual Appraisal process.
- To attend all relevant mandatory training as and when required to do so.

Quality & Patient Safety
- Protection of Children & Vulnerable Adults - To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
- Implementation of NICE guidance and other statutory / best practice guidelines
- Infection Control - To be responsible for the prevention and control of infection
- Incident reporting - To report any incidents of harm or near miss in line with the Trust’s incident reporting policy ensuring appropriate actions are taken to reduce the risk of reoccurrence
- To contribute to the identification, management and reduction of risk in the area of responsibility
- To ensure monitoring of quality and compliance with standards is demonstrable within the service on an ongoing basis
