We have a Senior Forensic Mental Health Practitioner role in our Integrated Offender Management (IOM) mental health service located in South London area.

The role is fixed term until 31/03/2025 where there is a possibility of the role being extended dependant on the contract funding.

Integrated Offender Management (IOM) is the national multi-agency arrangement that manages the most persistent, repeat offenders. In London the recently revised London IOM framework focuses partner agencies on repeat offenders who also pose at least a medium risk of violent reoffending. The aim of this framework is to improve the consistency and effectiveness of this work to reduce the number of victims in London, especially those of serious acquisitive and violent crime.

You will be part of a dedicated and dynamic team with a specific focus on delivering tailored support to individuals currently on licence with HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS).

The Senior Forensic Mental Health Practitioner (FMHP) would be expected to work with management to develop and promote the Integrated Offender Management service. The Senior FMHP will also support management with induction and training of new staff.

The Senior Forensic Mental Health Practitioner will have front line responsibilities, holding a small caseload. The job holder will work with service users to offer psychologically-informed interventions. This work aims to assist service users to live their best lives by supporting them to exercise choice in order to: improve their mental health and wellbeing; stay safe; reduce loneliness; increase social participation; work towards goals; develop their independence.

The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and will benefit from being part of a dynamic and growing organisation.

It is essential that you have a minimum of three years’ experience as a Mental Health practitioner and you hold a qualification in mental health.

This is a full time role with offering flexible and hybrid working in line with the demands of the service.

We are committed to fair chances for all and making sure everyone can access the support they need to make positive changes in their recovery journey. You really can make a difference by believing in our service users and their ability to make changes, when they do not always believe in themselves. The Criminal Justice service has multiple projects working within courts, prisons, probation and the community, aiming at providing mental health support in all these stages of the criminal justice system. We’ve seen impressive growth over the last two years extending our remit of work and this is something we’re highly motivated to continue.

What you need to know about Together:

Together is England’s oldest mental health charity and since we were formed in 1879, we have believed that people with mental health issues have the right and the abilities to lead independent, fulfilling lives as part of their communities. We offer a wide variety of support to help people deal with the personal and practical impacts of mental health issues. The services we provide include supporting people in criminal justice settings who’ve experienced mental distress, one-to-one support in the community, supported housing and 24 hour accommodation services and advocacy.

Our core principle at Together is service user leadership as we believe that benefits those people who are accessing support and has positive impact on all aspects of Together, and wider society. We want to be able to learn from people who have a range of views and who have experienced mental distress. By learning from the people who use our services in that way we aim to inform and influence Together from a Lived Experience perspective.
