Deputy Power Markets Editor - ICIS

We are looking for an experienced journalist or deputy editor to join our editorial team for the role of Deputy Power Markets Editor.

You will assist the Power Markets Editor in maintaining the quality and depth of all ICIS power market content.

The role includes developing news and analysis of the energy markets and helping ICIS reach a wider audience through a mix of content formats.

It also entails regularly editing the work of a large team of reporers, offering continuous feedback, organising coaching and upholding high editorial quality across our energy content.

The position also involves assessing prices in wholesale energy markets, and maintaining high standards of compliance and record keeping.

You will be expected to enhance the ICIS profile, engaging with stakeholders across the industry, building new contacts and presenting at conferences. Travel is encouraged.

You will collaborate closely with other business functions and contribute ideas related to new coverage and products, with the aim of expanding the ICIS business and meeting customer needs.

As part of a dynamic, international team, you will be encouraged to be your best, to learn and to grow. You will become a recognised expert in your field which can open doors to a wealth of diverse opportunities at a vital time of global transition in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
- Help lead news planning covering European power markets in conjuction with other editors
- Work with the Power Markets Editor to develop process improvements in line with underlying ICIS energy strategy
- Train and coach the editorial team
- Undertake regular edit work
- Contribute to discussions on platforms and formats to deliver ICIS energy content
- Liaise with other departments within ICIS on behalf of the editorial team

Key skills required
- Journalistic track record
- Editing experience
- Experience of managing deadlines and commissioning copy
- A strong eye for a story
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to understand, shape and implement strategy
- An understanding of the ICIS readership
- Knowledge of working across various types of news platforms and content types
- Proven knowledge of traded commodity markets preferred
- Other European languages would be an advantage
