**SALUS PROJECT WORKER**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Team**:SALUS team (incorporated into the accommodation team)

**Salary: Grade 8 pay point 12 £25,622 £15,373 pro Rata **3% pension contribution

**Accountable to**:Service manager for Accommodation Services

Full UK Driving License required as the post holder will be expected to drive within Derbyshire, driving to all our accommodation sites.

**Refuge working hours**:The post holder will be required to work 21 hours per week, over three consecutive days and will entitled to a 30 minute lunch break, between the hours of 9.30am and 7pm. The worker will expected to work on call over a period of weeks during the year during the evenings, as required to meet the needs of the service.

**Overall Purpose**: To assess and support all service users who are/have been residing in units of accommodation that fall under the SALUS project.
- **Service Specific Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work in close partnership with local authorities, to assess risk and formulate a plan to make sure those who are victims of domestic abuse and homeless receive timely support. Making sure they have access to accommodation that matches their needs and circumstances.
- Undertake weekly review of properties
- Support victims to access suitable longer-term accommodation, either within the County or out of area as dictated by risk and availability of suitable accommodation.
- Develop safety and support plans and escalating risk to MARAC or Safeguarding as required.
- Support clients to access a range of multi-agency support as dictated by their circumstances including GP’s, Health, Mental Health, Substance Misuse Teams Local Authority housing departments, and legal and financial advice services
- Notify the manager when the properties require stock replenishment, this includes basic kitchen equipment - pans, crockery, cutlery, and replace as required
- Provide clean bedding and towels for each client accepted.
- Provide emergency food parcels and other emergency provisions e.g. infant provisions, toiletries for clients as required.
- Undertake inventory of the property before re-allocation
- Offering/sourcing interpreters and translators where necessary to support clients with language barriers including BSL (British Sign Language).
- To provide one to one face to face and telephone support to women, men and young people who are at risk from domestic abuse utilizing the SALUS.
- To provide emotional support, practical support, advice and safety planning.
- To provide advocacy on behalf of clients with external agencies where appropriate.
- To manage crisis situations appropriately.
- Complete full refuge referrals, agency checks/triage refuge referrals to the appropriate refuge.
- Support clients to move into other accommodation
- temporary or permanent.
- To provide comprehensive handovers as necessary.
- To liaise with other agencies as appropriate.
- Implement the Derbyshire referral pathways and systems for risk assessment, safety planning and referral.
- To provide an on call service including emotional and practical support to those residing in TEF accommodation on a rota basis.
- To take out of hour referrals as part of the on call service when required. This includes being on call on weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
- To arrange cleaning of the properties to ensure a quick turnaround.
- To ensure that the clients have access to emergency food at the properties.
- To assist in delivery of presentations or workshops about the work of TEF, and to attend meetings, seminars and conferences as requested by the service manager.
- To refer any difficulties to the Service Manager

**2. Generic Duties and Responsibilities**:

- To ensure that all practical, financial and emotional support is provided to service users as defined in the individual support/ safety plan via one to one meetings or group work as appropriate and in accordance with TEF Adult Protection and / or Safeguarding Children policies and procedures.
- To provide appropriate emotional and practical support to service users over the telephone or face to face
- To maintain up to date information and/or changes in practice, housing, welfare issues and legislation that impact on people affected by domestic abuse, undertaking training as necessary.
- To provide assistance in producing statistical and other reports, and to monitor the effectiveness of the service in line with requirements of TEF and funders.
- To evaluate and monitor to measure the effectiveness of service intervention as required.
- To be aware of security issues at the premises and familiarize themselves with procedures such as CCTV monitoring and alarm systems.
- To prepare and participate in supervision, appraisal and development opportunities and other organizational priorities as required.
