**THE SITE**

Camp Dragon is located in beautiful and leafy North Oxford, just a short walk from the city centre, Jericho and beautiful university parks. A large school with excellent facilities that still manages to have a small, homely feel Camp Dragon gives our staff and students 22 acres to play with and be able to enjoy beautiful spacious facilities without sacrificing a city location.

Designed by language learning experts and qualified play workers, our summer camp provides an immersive learning experience for children aged 8 - 12 from around the world. Explore a range of themes through interactive lessons, inspiring workshops, and amazing activities. With up to 80 young learners Camp Dragon is a truly unique camp encouraging young people to discover, develop, and dare.

**The Role**

SBC is looking for a confident and dynamic Learning Lead to take a student facing role hosting the Camp Dragon Programme. Throughout the day, the Learning Lead will co-ordinate staff and students to create a smooth and seamless learning environment, building excitement, engaging and enthusing students and acting as the “presenter” of the learning programme.

They will be strong leaders and able to build a collaborative and supportive Teaching Team made up of Teachers and Pastoral Activity Leaders. The Learning Lead will inspire curiosity and confidence, encouraging our students to ‘reach for the sun’.

The Learning Lead should be able to speak to large groups of international students (up to 80) in a clear and engaging way. They should be organised and able to think one step ahead with experience managing a team.

**_Remuneration_**: Paid weekly, one week in arrears. The weekly rate received for Learning Lead is £850 PLUS any accrued holiday to be paid at the end of contract)* Food and accommodation are included for all residential SBC staff.

A normal working week for the Learning Lead will consist of up to 75 hours per week over six working days.

**_ All staff will receive one full day off per week._**

**LEARNING LEAD SPECIFIC DUTIES**
- Take overall responsibility for implementing and monitoring the performance of the Camp Dragon Programme.
- Be responsible for academic setup of the programme and effectively induct teachers.
- Organise the students into classes and inform students and Teachers of their classes.
- Establish a positive and supportive environment for Teachers and Pastoral Activity Leaders.
- Be the point of contact for Teachers and Pastoral Activity Leaders regarding the Programme.
- Be the point of contact for SBC Head Office regarding the Programme.
- Support, manage, and guide Teachers and Pastoral Activity Leaders.
- Lead daily meetings in the morning.
- Administer and maintain paperwork connected to the Programme (e.g. registers, records of work, weekly planners, student reports, etc.).
- Ensure reports and leavers’ certificates are produced on time.
- Empower students to successfully engage in the programme while helping develop independence, confidence, and social skills.
- Teach when necessary to provide cover for absent teachers.
- Provide feedback on the SBC syllabus and academic processes at the end of the summer.
- Host the ‘Showtime’ events, creating an exciting and collaborative environment.
- Co-ordinate students’ movements between sessions.

**MANAGEMENT DUTIES**

**Welfare & Safeguarding**
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and positive experience of all Campers inline with SBC Safeguarding Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure appropriate positive standards of student behaviour and support students inline with SBC's Positive Behaviour Management Policy
- Support site supervision through evening and overnight cover/duty and meal supervision if needed.
- Commit to and follow all SBC health and safety procedures, emergency procedures, and risk management measures.

**Management**
- Maintain effective and clear communication with all summer staff, provide ongoing support and feedback.
- Uphold the reputation of Summer Boarding Courses Ltd and the host venue
- Communicate effectively and maintain positive relationships with parents, agents, site hosts and other external contractors and stakeholders.
- Be an approachable and positive presence on site, communicating with students and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
