We’re looking for a motivated head of commercial to join Co-op. In this exciting role, we’ll look to you to create and drive the strategic plan for Co-op Food, helping to deliver the amazing work that we do within our commercial team. You’ll take ownership of one of the four strategic pillars within our commercial function: price, own brand & quality, range, and promotions - specifically leading the strategic thinking for your designated area. In this role, people leadership, strategic thinking and commercial awareness will be key to success. **What you’ll do**
- translate Co-op’s business strategy into a set of priorities and outcomes for commercial, and inspire colleagues in your team to deliver against these goals
- make sure that the commercial team develops the capabilities needed to deliver and effectively manage change
- deliver our financial plans end-to-end, taking shared ownership of our P&L (profit and loss) and cash targets
- provide leadership to a high performing, dynamic team of around 40 colleagues, taking on line management responsibilities for 5 direct reports
- offer valuable support and mentorship to your team, allowing colleagues to learn and grow within their roles
- help to create a culture of inclusivity which allows colleagues to be themselves always, where everyone can reach their potential
- act as a champion of co-operation across our commercial function, encouraging teams to collaborate across organisational structures or boundaries
- build relationships within our Food supply base as well as with teams / partners across the wider business

**This role would suit people who have**
- excellent people leadership skills with the ability to support and inspire a large, diverse team of colleagues cross-functionally
- the ability to build meaningful relationships with and influence external suppliers
- strong commercial / financial acumen and a strategic approach to problem solving
- a background within FMCG / retail, and of working across multiple channels would be beneficial but isn’t essential
- the ability to work well in a fast-changing and constantly evolving environment
