Senior Health Play Specialist

The post holder will use specialist theoretical knowledge and expertise, to complete observations and assess through play, the children attending a multi-disciplinary assessment. Also be involved in planned clinics within community paediatrics. Develop knowledge in the child protection process and be an advocate for the child and family.
The post holder will support the development of the play team, offering teaching and supervision to all hospital staff in relation to their specialist area. As a senior play specialist, the post holder will contribute to the management of the play team taking on delegated responsibilities and additional training to develop management skills.

This is a Band 5 post opportunity is to cover our Community Paediatrics Department.
The Band 5 roles will take on additional responsibilities and training to help with the day to day management and support of the Play Team manager. We are an already established and experienced play team who promotes the play service in the Children’s Hospital and the Trust.
Do you have some expertise in this area ? Have a keen interest to learn new skills and the motivation to grasp opportunities. We need someone who is pro-active and will help to support the play team and the service.

**For this post we require**:
The professional Diploma on Specialised Play for Sick Children and Young People or equivalent
You must be a registered Health Play Specialist with HPSET
At least 3 years post qualifying experience

Initiate assessments and develop specific therapeutic play programmes demonstrating knowledge and expertise in the development and psychological needs of the hospitalised child. Work with the multi-disciplinary team offering support and advice to parents about meeting their child need's.
Promote the development of the play service making contact across other clinical areas. Contribute to the management of the play specialist team taking on delegated responsibilities as required.
Maintain a professional portfolio and registration.
