**Role Outline**
**Duties and Responsibilities**

- Be courteous, efficient and professional at all times. Liaise directly with customers to provide feedback on incident progress.
- Research, investigate and resolve incidents as swiftly as possible and within Customer Service level agreements (where applicable).
- Liaise with and provide training & support to end users and staff on computer operation and other issues.
- Prioritise and escalate accordingly (when required) to an appropriately experienced technician within the team.
- Use Service Desk software to track incidents/service requests. Inputting all data relevant to the incident/service request including decisions made, escalation information, actions taken and final resolution notes.
- Document and maintain all relevant end user identification information. Including name, department, contact information into appropriate systems.
- Use diagnostic software and hardware to identify and resolve incidents.
- Where possible repair/replace faulty hardware equipment in accordance with ICT procedures.
- Learn how to support new technologies and software adopted by all areas of the Council.
- Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex PC problems for a variety of end users. Recommend and implement corrective hardware solutions, including off-site repair as needed.
- Help to develop and maintain the inventory of all ICT equipment through its full lifecycle. Including delivery of new equipment, ongoing maintenance through to the scrapping of the item.
- Use specialist software to perform software installations, system configurations and day to day maintenance (e.g. password resets, OS configuration, adding users into various services).
- Process Service Requests quickly and ensure the correct allocation of resources to facilitate a prompt response to the customer.
- Liase with 3rd party support, including both hardware and software vendors along with PC equipment maintenance contractors, taking responsibility for them when they are on site for installation / repairs.
- Visit other Council offices to install software/computer equipment and attend to user requirements when requested. This may involve the use of personal vehicles to transport equipment and the assembly of equipment in confined spaces (e.g. under desks etc.)
- Assist when, required in the maintenance of any software or hardware to meet the various needs of the Council in accordance with the job description for an ICT Officer.
- Practice asset management, including maintenance of component inventory.
- Maintain a working knowledge of PC Software and Hardware.
- Work closely with other sections of the IT department to develop relationships and increase skill base, including regular secondment to telecommunications team.
- Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the internet to aid in problem resolution
- Perform post-resolution follow-ups to aid procedures.
- Maintain and monitor calls outstanding on the ICT service desk along with projects, reporting progress and issues to principal officer.
- Evaluate documented resolutions and analyse trends for ways to prevent future problems
- Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform PC, hardware and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades and repairs.
- Promote excellence in customer service, a focus on continuous improvement and the promotion of these in the delivery of services and employment within the context of equality of opportunity and cultural diversity.
- Implement and monitor a positive performance culture, complying with policies and procedures that enable delivery of agreed targets and service standards.
- Establish and maintain effective two-way communication with staff, colleagues, Members and customers, seeking out and responding to opinions in order to further enhance the quality of service delivery.
- To work with the Desktop Support Team Manager in the creation of contingency plans to circumvent delays or other system problems when the situation requires.
- To work with the Desktop Support Team Leader to ensure the conformance of the Team for I.T.I.L. procedures, change control, and where necessary track the completion of service desk calls.
