London, United Kingdom University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

This postholder will be involved in the delivery of UCLH’s acute myeloid leukemia programme, working with colleagues in clinical and laboratory haematology at UCLH, as well as a number of partners at other organisations. The role will also include a role within the allogeneic HSCT programme, with inpatient duties for both teams. When attending for the alloHSCT team, this will include the care of patients undergoing non-HSCT immunotherapy treatments. Eligibility for full GMC registration and specialty accreditation in Haematology are required. Applicants must have a special interest in allogeneic HSCT and preferably a higher medical degree in a relevant area.

The primary commitment will be supporting the acute myeloid leukemia service at UCLH and a key component is a leadership role alongside Dr Panos Kottaridis. Clinical work will be outpatient-centred in the UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre and involve inpatient attending on a rotational basis. Active participation in the relevant MDTs, early and late phase trials and facilitating patient care with referring centres encouraged. Other roles include responsibility for developing and overseeing the quality management system and devising guidelines for the respective services.

The post-holder will be expected to take part both in the teaching of medical undergraduates and the supervision and training of junior doctors. There would be an expectation to attend clinical haematology governance meetings and Divisional senior staff meetings.

The Department of Clinical Haematology provides comprehensive care for all haematological disorders, both malignant and non-malignant.

The new Grafton Way Building facility will expand the total haematology inpatient bed base to >100, including a 14 bedded haematology isolation unit. There will also be a 10 bedded ITU on the new site.

There are active clinical and research programmes in lymphoma, leukaemia, myeloma, transplant, clotting and TTP, red cell and anti-coagulation. The directorate works closely with laboratory haematology services, which are managed as part of the clinical support division. There is also a cellular therapy unit, providing accredited facilities to support the department’s ambitious programme in stem cell harvests, gene therapy and immunotherapy and a large apheresis unit, performing both therapeutic and harvesting procedures.

Please see attached JD for further information on the role responsibilities.

**The role includes**:
Inpatient attending
Leukemia/alloHSCT MDT
Clinics x 2 per week (potentially 3)
