The CEO is looking for a Chief Digital and Data Officer to lead the technical team and help navigate through an environment of almost limitless opportunities. You’ll also be helping to deliver 2 data trusts, both world firsts, that will help to transform the industry. We have a bold vision, with strong social values.

**Job Role**

We are looking for a Chief Digital and Data Officer who is able to take control of all technical and data aspects of the business. From managing the business’ systems and data through to shaping and delivering our commercial services and solutions.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, innovative leader who is comfortable in a hands-on role.

You’ll be working in a relatively small team (~30 people) with a start-up philosophy, with a lot of influence. There is plenty of opportunity to shape the direction of the business and your role within it.

**Person Specification**

First and foremost, someone who is driven. An eagerness to learn and push themselves. Someone who isn’t afraid of a challenge, is resilient and able to work under pressure. Can be trusted to deliver results in a rapidly evolving work environment.

**Please note that this is a role where you'll need to be hands on, coaching and shaping the team, working with clients on solutions and shaping the direction of the business.**

**The core responsibilities of this role include**:

- Shaping and setting the technical and data strategy for the business
- Leading the technical team comprising a mixed level team of data scientists, analysts, engineers and IT professionals
- Owning the technical roadmap for the business and its relationship with market opportunity. Delivery of rapid pilots to test and validate ideas.
- Delivering data strategies, ecosystems, insights and shaping the future of the project delivery profession through data.
- A relentless focus on data security and integrity. Ensure management and maintenance of GDPR compliance and Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001 certifications, including the management of all technology-related risks.
- Ensure that disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place and tested.
- Shape policies considerations related to technology, security and IP as needed
- Being the public face of the company’s technical and data capabilities. Working with the CEO to develop, nurture and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders. Deliver presentations at key events, conferences and with senior teams. Support and drive business development activities in the area of technical and professional services.
- Providing technical account leadership for key clients, shaping roadmaps and ensuring technical excellence.
- Direct and organise all data and IT-related projects both internally and with third parties. Maintain a laser focus on performance.
- Lead on approach to leveraging data and information across the business for internal and external benefit.
- Full P&L responsibility for the technical profit centre.
- Play a full role in the Senior Leadership Team and leadership within the business, including role modelling appropriate behaviours and setting high personal standards of integrity. Be a thought leader sharing insights to continue improving and evolving the business, our products and services.

**You will have the following underpinning skills, attitudes and behaviours**:

- A degree, masters, or PhD plus >5 years’ experience
- Strategic thinker with data-driven, analytical approach to decision making
- Organised, structured planner with high degree to operate autonomously. Can be relied upon to deliver. Trustworthy
- Solution-oriented problem solver with ‘hands-on’ approach and bias to action.
- Demonstrable experience leading data teams, from machine learning to dashboards, automation to data pipelines and engineering. A generalist, but with the ability to rapidly learn and grasp new technologies and concepts.
- Commercially savvy with proven results. Must be able to build and leverage strong relationships with colleagues
