Incident Support Unit Operative

- **MISSION & MAIN ACTIVITIES**:_
- **The M40 motorway is just over 123kms long linking London M25 with Birmingham. The contract is for routine maintenance and incident response.**_
- Operatives will be expected to undertake other tasks for which they are suitably trained when working night shifts. You shift pattern will be 4 x 12hr shifts, 4 days off work, 4 x 12hr shifts, 4 days off work, each shift pattern consists of two-day shifts followed by two night shifts. You will be paid based on an average 42hour working week. Optional overtime is available_
- **You will be required to**:_
- _Actively participate in briefings and training to enable all duties to be carried out in a safe and sustainable manner._
- _Actively participate in encouraging a positive attitude towards health, safety, and the environment. Reporting to the Team Leader or Foreman any hazards on site. Care for own Health & Safety and that of fellow workers._
- _Carry out safety/debris patrols, identify and make safe defects on the carriageway._
- _Respond to incidents within timeframe_
- _Carry out tasks to clear incidents from the highway as instructed by your Team Leader or Foreman._
- _Carry out other highway maintenance activities including kerbing; concrete work; paving and slabbing; laying asphalt; iron works; boundary fence repair and maintenance; sign erecting and vegetation works._
- _Carry out Winter Maintenance Duties taking part in the out of hours Emergency Response and Winter Maintenance rotas as requested._
- _Record defects on hand held devices and pass to Foreman/Team Leader_
- _Installation of Emergency Traffic Management as requested._
- _Install Traffic Management and, if required, carry out tasks within it, as instructed by your Team Leader or Foreman._
- _Ensure daily driver checks are undertaken on the vehicle prior to commencing network activity_
- _Complete appropriate paperwork relative to task and ensuring that the records are passed onto your Team Leader_
- _Keep lorries and vans clean and tidy_
- _Work in a safe manner at all times_
- _Ensure that PPE is kept clean and in good condition_
- _Ensure that near misses and hazards are reported in a timely manner._
- **Training**:_
- You will be required to take, and pass, the Lantra hierarchy of courses to allow you to work on high speed roads._
- The position holder must ensure compliance with the Egis Codes of Ethics, Integrity and Human Resources Management, all local regulations and Health & Safety rules that apply._
**Salary**: £12.50-£14.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 45 per week
