Now more than ever, commercial contracting has a vital role in delivering on our commitments to Carbon Net Zero. As Crown Commercial Service (CCS), we play a key role in helping the Public Sector buy the goods and services they need to deliver vital public services, £27 billion worth last year alone.
We are seeking deep sustainability expertise to support CCS and our customers to realise their Carbon Net Zero ambitions. This new team has a varied role responsible for CCS sustainability policy, advising public sector customers on key themes and programmes, identifying new products and services for our agreements, and being known for influencing the Public Sector Sustainability response at senior levels across all sectors.
The Sustainability Team will have enterprise wide influence and reach, acting as a strategic enabler to realising the CCS business plan and engaging with customers and suppliers. Given the crosscutting nature of the role, you will need to be flexible and able to work closely with teams across CCS and the wider Government, forming virtual teams and working across boundaries.
**As a **Sustainability Communications Officer **your main responsibilities would be**:
- To support the design and delivery of a marketing and communications campaign strategy for CCS’s carbon net zero programme, working within and drawing inspiration from the Government Communication Service campaign planning model

- Generate and deliver content ideas for news items, editorial, social media and other channels including video and audio, ensuring the most appropriate and cost-effective channel mix is used
- Edit, revise and optimise copy and content according to audience insight to maximise impact
- Support the development of communication plans considering resources and budgets. Identify risks and plan mitigating actions
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on writing clearly for target audiences and championing the CCS Style Guide
- Work collaboratively with experts across the marketing and communications team to develop and deliver a campaign plan which is delivered across a range of channels
**You’ll have relevant experience in**:
- Experience in a similar role
- Inquisitive mindset, comfortable in using data to tell a story and make recommendations
- Excellent communication planning skills and attention to detail
- Experience in a marketing, internal, and / or external communications with a track record of collaboration
- Excellent content writing and storytelling skills
- Good influencer, skilled at communicating with senior stakeholders verbally and in writing, providing expert advice and challenge
**Desirable Criteria**
- 2 years experience in a similar role
- Knowledge / awareness of strategic planning processes
- Marketing / external communications / media or relevant qualification
