Finance Operations Team Lead

The Finance Operations Team oversees the key financial processes that underpin the way we operate, including Purchase to Pay (P2P) and Order to Cash (O2C). In line with the Government Finance Function best practice, DIT wants to make these processes as streamlined and user-friendly as possible, while maintaining compliance with internal controls.

The prime purpose of the role is to lead the Requisitioning Team within the Finance Operations Team, managing their workload, setting priorities and managing expectations of stakeholders.

The role is also responsible for alerting the business to guidance updates, responding to, and delivering, requests for training and standardising common processes across the team. This will include quality assuring information on the Digital Workspace and ensuring all guidance is correct and up to date

Other responsibilities include reviewing and quality assuring journals and reconciliations, ensuring the Oracle hierarchy is maintained for approvals to ensure the correct workflows and liaising with our shared services provider on P2P matters.

Alongside demonstrating financial expertise, this role is predominantly about people management and delivering a quality service. You will have a passion for developing people, to build their capability and experience, not just for your own team’s needs but also for the whole directorate.

In this role you will be expected to undertake the following specific tasks:

- You will be part of our key controls to ensure that DIT is managing its money properly.
- You will liaise with other finance teams, in particular with the Financial Accounting and the Management Accounts teams.
- You will be the Finance lead for one or more finance processes, leading on delivery and consistency with the Team Lead for Receipting.
- You will recognise change as an opportunity to deliver efficiency and innovation, and act as an agent for change when you identify the chance to protect, drive and add value.
- You will be a good communicator and will be able to balance the workload of your team with the expectations of stakeholders.

**Line Management Responsibility**:
The team is made up of 1 x HEO and 4 x EO. The role line manages the HEO and shares line management responsibility for the EOs.

**Hybrid working**

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.

**Essential Criteria**
- Managing a Quality Service: Accountable for the delivery of the team’s outputs, ensuring they are completed efficiently and in line with expectations of quality of service.
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills with evidence of successfully developing teams.
- Working Together: Accountable for key stakeholder engagement and point of contact for escalation and resolution of issues.
- Delivering at Pace: Maintain oversight and control over the PO financial processes.

**Desirable Criteria**
- This role would suit someone who has or is studying for a finance qualification or has significant finance experience.
- Ideally, you will have experience of purchase to pay processes and experience of using Oracle.
