Summary of job:
To lead and drive forward volunteer recruitment, training, and development for the Bristol Food Clubs. The Volunteer Coordinator will be part of the Bristol Food Clubs service and work closely with the 12 Food Clubs in Bristol. Key tasks and responsibilities:
1. To recruit and train volunteers to support Food Clubs activities within Bristol

2. Lead on all aspects of the day-to-day administration and supervision of a team of volunteers and linking with the Food Club Co-ordinators at the partners who host Food Clubs

3. Ensure volunteers develop best possible practice in line with FA and Food Club policies and practice, recognising and deploying volunteers’ strengths.

4. Lead on the recruitment and selection of suitable volunteers in line with Family Action’s recruitment policy and procedures.

5. To work in conjunction with Family Action training & development leads to ensure programmes of training consist of Family Action procedures in areas such as food hygiene, allergen awareness, safeguarding, GDPR, Equality & Diversity and Health & Safety.

6. To work collaboratively with stakeholders and raise the profile of volunteering for FOOD Clubs in Bristol area, in order to strengthen community resilience and capacity and awareness of the clubs

7. Provide the Community Engagement and Volunteer Lead with relevant monitoring information relating to the volunteer team for inclusion within comprehensive monitoring reports for commissioners.

8. Undertake relevant training as appropriate, offered by Family Action but also seeking out training opportunities relevant to the role

9. 1. Educated to at least level 3

2. To have knowledge and experience of working with volunteers and have a good understanding of the challenges/difficulties volunteers may face when considering volunteering and development needs.

3. Excellent ICT and marketing skills (particularly Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams and social media)

4. Skills, knowledge and aptitude for building and maintaining professional relationships with Food Club members, community groups and other agencies, working with communities in an empowering and supportive way.

5. Skills, knowledge, and experience of using a range of different methods and models of working with the community accessing FOOD clubs, including potential volunteers from the membership

6. Proven experience of working at a management level, supervising, and developing volunteers, providing effective leadership, managing conflict, and using negotiation skills where necessary with an ability to communicate, negotiate and influence a wide range of audiences and stakeholders.

7. Proven experience of working with a diverse range of communities and inter-agency working and the importance of working together principles.

8. An excellent understanding and awareness of the impact of disadvantage and social exclusion and a commitment to promoting inclusion and equality of opportunity for all.

9. Proven experience of promote empowering individuals to build on their existing strengths, their needs, views etc. and develop volunteer’s confidence and skills to do this independently whenever possible.

10. Experience of establishing and sustaining a broad range of profession and al partnerships engaging, as well as consulting, with service users and stakeholders through effective collaboration and communication skills.

11. Proven experience to providing high quality supervision and undertaking appropriate training in the principles of reflective practice.

12. Ability to develop creative and innovative practice, with the ability to plan, set priorities and work on own initiative. Good organisational skills are required.
