- Job description-
You will develop a close working relationship with the Flood Resilience Team Leader, Senior Environment Officer (Incidents), Operations Management teams and the duty roles. You will chair and manage the Area Incident Management Programme Board, which is steers the Area’s Incident Management work.
You will direct the team’s critical engagement with our Local Resilience Forum partners for incident preparedness, response and recovery to ensure that we are planning and preparing for incidents together. The team will also coordinate the Area’s input into multiagency incident exercises across a range of incident types and scenarios.
The team provides a ‘Tactical First Response’ service - managing day to day incident response overview and coordination within office hours and in support of our rostered duty staff who are on standby 24/7.
You will ensure we meet our Key Performance Indicators and working closely with colleagues in the Incident Management and Response directorate you will providing assurance returns and implement any necessary improvements.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
- The team- The Areas Incident Team focusses on working with others (internally and externally) to plan, prepare, advise and respond to multifunctional incidents to reduce the risk to life and minimise impact on the environment.
The team focus on a wide range of work from partner and community engagement, training and exercising duty officers, managing our planning and preparation for incident and providing oversight and response to incidents.
- Experience/skills required- Working with senior managers, engaging/participating within leadership teams.
Leadership - Team Leader experience required, as well as experience of working with local and national incident management teams and leading projects and/or groups.
Excellent communication skills - brief writing, presentations, reporting to senior managers, working with national colleagues.
Good influencing skills - producing clear and persuasive written material; briefing, presenting and influencing senior staff, colleagues and customers face to face.
Good organisational skills/discipline and the ability to plan, track, deliver and evaluate work within a project management framework.
Sensitivity to the needs of internal and external customers and partners, and able to deliver outcomes through these.
Working under own initiative and as part of a larger, cross-functional/multidisciplinary team.
The ability to offer professional lead and support to working/task groups and organise/facilitate effective meetings.
Experience of working with internal and external partners to deliver specific outcomes, to time, cost and quality.

It’s desirable that you are a member of, or are working towards membership of, a professional body.

The role will be based in Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire Area.
You may need to regularly travel to customers and Environment Agency offices in Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire and further afield and are likely to find it necessary to visit locations which may not be easily accessible via public transport so will need to hold a full UK driving licence.
