Swindon, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

Summary We're looking for a Network Engineer to help us take a proactive, hands-on approach to network operations, working with the immediate team along with the wider operations teams, information security and service managers.

You’ll enjoy problem solving and continually learning and sharing your knowledge. You’ll recognise that the world of networks is a forever changing landscape and we as a team need to continually grow and adapt to keep up with change.

This is an opportunity for you to enhance the National Trust’s approach to networking and be part of an exciting project that is being built from the ground up.

Internally this role is known as IT Engineer.

What it's like to work here You will be joining a team of 3 keen, relaxed, IT professionals who really want to drive forward the network projects and needs of the Trust. We are lucky to have some cutting-edge tools at our disposal from vendors like Cisco, Fortinet, and Meraki. We arepunching above our weight when comparing the tools available to us in Networks compared with other organisations in our field. The IT teams are very keen to assist employees to gain certifications or experience in areas they are interested in as this has ahuge benefit to the organisation, as the knowledge of employees improves so does the organisation.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon, however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree hybrid working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust.

What you'll be doing Working with a high-performing team of dedicated network operations personnel, you'll be an integral part of the team providing support for the infrastructure as well as project rollout. The role in not limited to networking only but will also have exposureto wider infrastructure support.

You'll be developing strong relationships across the organisation as well as externally, with strategic support partners and 3rd party vendors, who provide the tooling in use at the National Trust. These engagements ensure not only the day to day runningof the network but also provide the basis for a “bigger picture” alignment with the remaining IT departments and the general push towards more SaaS, PaaS and IaaS solutions. As our Network Engineer you’ll work along with the other relevant teams to achieveproject delivery as well as part of BAU pieces.

Who we're looking for You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what is possible in thisrole. For this position were looking for someone who has:

- A keen interest in networking, with a focus on routing and switching (Cisco)
- Exposure to Meraki Wi-Fi technologies as well as Meraki SD-WAN.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting Fortinet products (focus on FortiGate Firewall, FortiClient, FortiManager and FortiAnalyser).
- Work with a wide variety of tools from various vendors e.g., Cisco, Fortinet and Microsoft
- Holds or is working towards the following vendor certifications: CCNA R&S, Fortinet NSE3/4, Engineering Cisco Meraki Solutions (ECMS 500-220) or equivalent experience
- Proven track record in a NoC support role with daily troubleshooting as well as project deployment experience. Focus will be on the support skills but looking to improve scoping, managing, and deploying projects on production networks
- A proactive nature, offering up suggestions or improvements to the team
- Ability to take the lead on assigned tasks, meeting engagements, team updates etc.
- Good understanding of Microsoft server products, mainly Active Directory, DHCP and DNS and how these integrate with the network
- Understanding of cloud technologies (AWS and Azure)
The package The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audienceswe serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
- Flexible working whenever possible
- Free parking at most locations
- Free entry to our properties for you, a guest and your children (under 18)
- Substantial pension scheme of up to 10% basic salary
