We have an exciting opportunity for a therapist with highly developed clinical skills within a wide-ranging mainstream school caseload and experience of leadership to work collaboratively to lead our mainstream team for 0.5 WTE. These sessions form part of the mainstream clinical lead role shared with an experienced colleague who has a special clinical interest in developmental language disorder.

Come & join our busy and friendly team covering Chichester, Bognor and Midhurst, and just over an hour west of Brighton.

We use a universal, targeted and specialist approach focused on enabling parents, carers and setting staff to communicate as well as they possibly can with the children and young people in their care.

Within this role you will carry a mainstream caseload which may include a specialist caseload depending on your area of clinical interest and previous experience. You will provide supervision, mentoring, second opinions and clinical advice to other members of the mainstream or locality team. You will also provide expert clinical advice alongside the Professional Lead for SLT as part of the SEND Tribunals process as required.

Have experience of supervising and/or mentoring less experienced colleagues, which might include both qualified and unqualified members of the team.

To organise caseloads within the scope of the highly specialist post advising the SLT Clinical Service Manager of shortfalls and difficulties as they arise.

To manage your own caseload of children with speech, language and communication delay and disorder in mainstream schools.

To provide advice to other professionals and parents in order to support the needs of children with speech, language and communication delay and disorder.

To liaise with Education and other relevant staff, with referring agents and
parents/carers, maintaining a high level of professional relationship,
engendering confidence in the service.

To advise and provide clinical support to other therapists.

The locality Band 7 team meet regularly for peer support and with the locality clinical service managers to address operational issues within the locality.
