Sustainability Engineer | Building Services Consultancy | High End Residential Projects | Competitive Salary
My client is a well established building services consultancy based in Surbiton, Surrey. They are a close team of 28 and mainly work on high end residential new build and listed building projects in Central London with project values ranging from £5 millionall the way up to £60 million.
They are based just 5 minutes' walk from Surbiton train station with free on site parking meaning they are easily accessible from Surrey and perfectly situated to get into town quickly to visit sites and clients which they do a lot.
They are looking to take on a Sustainability Engineer to assist the M&E design teams on projects as the demand for more sustainable building's increases. You will be responsible for performing energy assessments of design stage and post construction projects,assisting clients on BREEAM regulations and be knowledgeable on embodied carbon and lifecycle assessments. You will need to be able to present clearly to clients and represent the company on site visits.
Your new responsibilities:

- Undertake the role of 'Net-zero Carbon Lead'/ 'Sustainability Lead' for high profile Projects, leading building physics & energy strategy work on multidisciplinary projects across a range of sectors
- Undertaking studies relating to BREEAM Credits including: thermal comfort, low and zero carbon technologies, reduction of emissions, predicted operational energy and daylighting
- Undertaking residential Part L assessments utilising accredited SAP software as part of large scale energy strategies
- Preparing Energy & Sustainability Statements for developments to complement planning submissions. This will include coordination and managing energy/ sustainability contributions from many different design team stakeholders.
- Preparing high quality reports that clearly and concisely communicate the issues involved and the conclusions. The preparation of sustainability and energy strategies will be a core part of the job role

We want to hear from you if:

- Qualified to a degree or Masters level in engineering or sustainable design
- 3+ years in in a building services engineering role with a passion for low carbon, low energy design. A background in Building Physics and passive design would be an advantage.
- Demonstrate good attention to detail and show pride in the work produced.
- Strong passion for sustainability and a good understanding of low-carbon building solutions.
- Understanding of the building regulations and British Standards applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this through calculation.
- An understanding of working with Revit/MEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.
- An understanding of BREEAM and other environmental assessment methodologies (Accreditation with BREEAM/LEED/WELL would be an advantage)
- An Engineering background and an understanding of Mechanical Building Services
- Skills in assessing the feasibility of renewable and low carbon energy solutions
- Be able to effectively communicate to clients both inside and outside the business
