Highways Engineer or Transport Planner

I am currently working with a well established Civil & Structural design consultancy who are based in the heart of Surrey. Due to growth of the team and the continued demand for Civils Design Engineers they are now looking to recruit into the business. Theyare committed to providing their clients with solutions of the highest quality, through our appreciation and understanding of the planning issues in the context of policy, design and sustainability.
- rounded engineer with experience in both areas. Predominately the majority of the work will be working with private developers on housing schemes and residential units.
**What you'll need to succeed**
Experienced in either highways design engineering or highways transport planning.
Transport Planner background
- Experience of drafting of Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel
Plan
- Road collision data analysis
- Public Transport strategies (Bus and Rail)
- Junction capacity analysis (Junctions 9 & LinSig)
- Basic understanding of highway layouts and design (horizontal and vertical
alignment)
- Competent in using TRICS database
- Competent in using AutoCAD and AutoTrack
- Experience in using Census Data to understand and analyse existing travel patterns
- Parking layouts
- The wider planning system.

Highways Engineer Background
- Civil Engineering degree
- Chartered status (or approaching chartered status)
- Project experience in Highways Design (experience of urban highways or development projects would be an advantage).
- Previous site experience (as contractor or supervisor) would be an advantage
- Experienced in Microdrainage
- AutoCAD skills would be very useful with Civil3D (or similar) capability an advantage.
- Good skills with MS Excel and Word are essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in a client facing position
- Line management and performance management experience
- Ability to think in an innovative and entrepreneurial manner
- A strong team-working ethic is essential

**What you'll get in return**
This salary is between £35,000 - £45,000 DOE, Standard pension package, 25 annual days leave, plus bank holidays, flexible working hours.
