Key results from the job holder Team leader for Leigh Locality Work as part of the podiatry team providing support to colleagues. Lead locality staff meetings and briefing sessions Order appropriate levels of dressings for your clinical area Maintaining and reporting faults of clinical equipment Maintain appropriate records and statistical data collection in line with both the trust and professional bodies policies and guidelines. Actively embrace continuous development keeping abreast of current thinking in the NHS and podiatry practice e.g., Work shadowing, in house training, post graduate education and course developed by the professional bodies. Take part in audit ensuring effective evidence-based practice, support the evidence base by participating in research and development and possible clinical trials of wound care products.

Devise protocols and pathways to be utilised with in all areas of the department. Have the required professional skills to clearly identify appropriate referral of patients needing the intervention of GPs, specialist nurses, district nurses ,vascular medical or orthopaedic consultants. Follow agreed protocols for admission to secondary care in the event of a foot related clinical emergency. To be aware of and comply with the guidelines of the trust and current national drivers appertaining to podiatry i.e., NICE, NSFs etc.

To promote a professional image in appearance and conduct Comply and contribute with the standards of podiatry practice developed by the department. To provide a podiatry service in line with departmental objectives Podiatry treatments will include: - Patient assessment and diagnosis Developing and implementing individual care plans for patients Annual reviews on all patients in their caseload and amend treatment plans accordingly. Undertake biomechanical assessments. Undertake nail surgery as part of a rota.

Manufacture orthotic devices. Provide dressing regimes autonomously and in a shared care plan with district nursing. Make appropriate referrals to consultants, senior podiatrists GPs and their practice nurses and district nurses and other health care professionals and social services in line with duty of care. Delegate the workload as appropriate with in the team Health education and advice in line with need and understanding often via a third party e.g., Staff employed by the home or relative friend or carer of the patient.

Considering a patients prognosis have the professional ability to work in sometimes distressing situations Management and clinical supervision will include. Junior podiatry staff podiatry assistant, band 5 and 6 staff. Other health professionals in training Work shadowing as part of the induction of trust staff Complete all relevant documentation and computer inputting in the relevant timescales. Comply with decontamination and sterilisation procedures.

Comply with appropriate COSHH regulations. Have an ability to judge your own level of competence when both making clinical judgements and giving advice. Take account of the patients ability to understand both written and verbal information. Carry out other duties required to assist the department to fulfil its contractual obligations e.g., involvement careers conventions.

Maintain registration with the HCPC Planning and Organisational Duties Attend service review meetings and involvement in implementation. Organise timetables and monitor waiting lists Support Operational manager and Clinical Team Lead Communications and Key Working Relationships Work with the team leads and support their teams. Liaise effectively with Medical, Nursing, and other Allied Health Professionals Responsibility for Finance Support Operational manager in achieving budget requirements. Bring any potential efficiency savings or anticipated budgetary pressures to the attention of the operational manager.

Attend monthly Budget meetings. Responsibility for Human Resources Manage teams health and wellbeing. Return to work interviews. Arranging Annual leave and approving on e roster Responsibility for Health & Safety Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 the post holder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions.

This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
