Kingston College are now looking for a Head of School to join the Curriculum Management Team.

The curriculum currently includes students on 16-18 study programmes, apprenticeships, and adult programmes including access to HE; the school has a substantial HE provision too. The focus is on ensuring that current and future students receive a first-classexperience that enables them to progress and attain their qualifications at high levels and to develop long-lasting learning and employability skills.

The role of Head of School is to lead the strategic development and operational management of the school’s curriculum in line with college objectives and performance targets. In this specific role, this means a high-quality curriculum that is connected tothe local and regional needs of the community the College serves. A critical role for the Head of School is to be able to identify and evaluate the strengths and the areas for improvement and to translate this into operating plans with clear actions and targetsto be met over a defined period of time. The Head of School will monitor these closely with the School Management Group (SMG) and report on progress at College CMT.

We’d like our Head of School to hold a degree or appropriate professional qualification in an area relevant to the work in the school and to be recognised as a good or better teacher. You will have substantial relevant teaching experience and be able tolead and working within teams, identifying training and development needs for both teaching and support teams.

With a proven track record of improving and managing a high-quality curriculum, you will have a sound knowledge of the curriculum offered in the school and a firm grasp of current and impending changes to the curriculum. You will demonstrate successful experienceof leading change and develop and implement strong vision for the improvement and development of the curriculum.

A teaching qualification is not essential, providing you are willing to achieve one in line with current regulations. A management qualification is also desirable.
