**Activities Coordinator**

**Hours: 9am-3pm**

**3 x Shifts a week**

**Salary: £11.00 per hour**

We are looking for an activities coordinator to provide a varied and appropriate activities programme for residents with high-dependency nursing needs, both one-to-one or group activities based around the needs, wishes and desires of the individuals that we support. The activities delivered will help our residents to live healthier, more independent and fulfilling lives

**About our care home**:
Our care home is nestled in the historic hospital grounds at St Peters. Within the quaint town of Maldon, we’re extremely fortunate to be situated in such a quiet area. Our newly refurbished facility comprises of 16 comfortable bedrooms including ensuite bathrooms. Although we have the capacity for 24 residents. We pride ourselves in promoting a tranquil environment for our residents and have recently opened our sensory garden for residents and family members to enjoy.

**Your duties will include**:

- Planning rewarding activities for our Residents. Design and implement ‘engaging’ activities; personalising them to ensure each and every resident is included, enriching their lives. Promoting independence, choice and dignity for our residents
- Fund-raising is also an important part of the role - thinking outside of the box to create new ideas and networking with local businesses, e,g, Summer Fetes
- Liaise with individuals, relatives, friends and other colleagues to ensure a full knowledge of their likes, dislikes, interests, abilities and difficulties and arranging volunteer programmes
- Facilitate group events and individual sessions involving internal, externals and community-based resources
- Advertise and promote the planned programme in a manner which encourages involvement of all individuals, relatives and colleagues.
- Develop a planned programme which allows for necessary changes, to ensure residents have access to activities covering seven days a week including evenings and weekends
- Maintain written records of individual assessments and life stories, their participation and activity evaluations in line with CQC requirements and best practice
- Maintain a portfolio of information including a range of activities available within the Home and the local community
- To ensure that the activity care plan for each resident is in place within one week of the date of admission. Ensure that this updated and reviewed monthly
- To organise themed events as required, based on local holidays and traditions etc
- To organise outings as appropriate and based on residents wishes and preferences
- To assist and support residents at mealtimes ensuring that the appropriate equipment is available, and that the ambience is conducive to a relaxed environment
- To liaise with the senior person in charge on a daily basis
- To involve residents in social events organised by the local community and encourage community groups to be involved in the life of the home
- To build and maintain a suitable stock of social events and hobby equipment
- To maintain standards of infection control within the home and to assist residents to maintain their own infection control needs
- To actively display and promote the Company’s Values
- To remain fully compliant on all mandatory training
- To be sensitive to the privacy and individual needs of the residents
- To promote Equality and Diversity in the workplace

- Excellent communication skills and ability to adjust communication style to fit individual needs

**Essential Experience**:

- Minimum of 1 year experience working within the care setting
- Experience working with individuals with different levels of dementia
- Working knowledge of Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity and CQC regulations
- Covid infection control training and awareness of compliance as per government guidelines
