You must be able to gather, collate and present evidence and determine and implement the best course of action to resolve issues.

The work will involve a flexible approach when dealing with proactive and reactive issues; and you will be responsible for managing a caseload of work within the above disciplines. Everyday presents a different challenge and you will enjoy the diverse range of jobs.

You will have the opportunity to develop professionally and gain experience in a wide range of duties. Training will also be provided where necessary.

The Commercial Premises Team is part of the Public Protection Team under the Department of Operations. The wider team is also responsible for neighbourhoods statutory nuisance for example dog barking, fly tipping, filthy and verminous properties, private rented sector housing, drainage issues, air quality, climate change, contaminated land, private water supplies and environmental permitting.

The post requires a fully qualified Environmental Health Officer and be a competent food officer as defined by the FSA. You should have knowledge of current legislation relating to environmental health and good communication skills together with the associated enthusiasm and commitment to fulfil the requirements of the post applied for. Commercial work is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to improve the wellbeing for both individuals and communities living in Bury.

The post is Grade 12 (£39,186-£41,418), SCP 31 - 33 and hours of work will be 37 per week worked in accordance with the Authority's flexitime arrangements and is full time 2 year fixed contract (end date 31 March 2026).
