London, United Kingdom Metropolitan Police Full time

**Job Title**: Civilian Disclosure Advisor

**Salary**: £32,194 to £34,452 plus a location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £32,194 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £34,452 will be via incremental progression.

**Location**:Across London

This is an exciting time to be working as a Civilian Disclosure Advisor for the Metropolitan Police Service. In addition to large-scale transformation, there's the unique and ever-evolving challenge of policing London. This means that as a Civilian Disclosure Advisor, there are more opportunities for you to get involved with making London the safest global city in a time of unprecedented change within the UK's largest Police Service.

**Key Responsibilities**

You will be available to act as a resource to advise Investigating Officers/Officer in Charge/Supervisors working on disclosure matters as required in investigations including Child Abuse and Sexual Offences.

Your duties will include performing the designated ‘Disclosure Champion’ role.

This will aid compliance with the Criminal Proceedings and Investigations Act 1996 and other relevant legislation and guidance.

A requirement of the role may involve reviewing extreme/graphic material related to Child Abuse and Sexual Offences investigations. The role holder must be content with this.

**How to Apply**

**Essential Criteria**

An excellent knowledge and understanding of the Criminal Procedure & Investigations Act 1996, current Code of Practice, Attorney General Guidelines on Disclosure, and the Code to the Crown Prosecutors. This is required to ensure officers are advised appropriately by the role holder.
- Proven ability in understanding the creation of MG6 series documents with sufficiency of detail to be examined by professional partners (CPS / Barristers - Prosecution & Defence). This is required to ensure the role holder can appropriately advise officers on SDC/MG6 series creation, and to quality assure schedules as required, to assist with ensuring effective progression of the case.
- Successful applicants will have to complete a CILEX National accredited Disclosure Qualification.

**Desirable Criteria**

Knowledge of Investigations - if possible major or complex. The role holder will need to draw upon an appropriate level of experience to undertake a measured and effective review of all cases to provide the proper advice sought by the officer.
- Excellent organisational skills, which enables them to prioritise their workload to fulfil tasks to a consistently high standard within challenging timescales. The role holder will need to review (often complex) cases in a timely manner and ensure a high-quality service to officers, and balance this with servicing other pressing matters - including the requirement for focused intervention with potential discontinuances (related to disclosure) in order to help maintain the prosecution.
