2023 is the year that our shareholders will be making a major investment in the company, across all areas of the business, including operational systems, staff, customer and client relationships and equipment.
The Managing Director will be responsible for driving the business into a period of new growth and opportunity. Reporting to the CEO, the Managing Director will deliver against agreed KPI's, targets and objectives for the company and is responsible for buildingand maintaining a high performing management team. There are 37 staff with five direct reports (two contract managers, part-time finance manager, business support manager and a part-time accounts clerk).
You will have strong leadership attributes coupled with demonstrable management and people skills that have been used extensively in senior roles in a soft services multi-site, multi-workstream environment. Previous experience at an operational level is highlydesirable.
The Managing Director will be a relationship builder of the highest calibre, both with suppliers, customers and internal teams and will have proven negotiation, presentation and communication skills utilised to Board level.
Key Responsibilities:

- Provide effective leadership and direction for the management team
- Enhance and upscale the current customer relationship systems
- Create and maintaining an effective team culture
- Identify and prioritise bid opportunities with the CEO
- Contribute to effective bid writing
- Ensure the Company's financial and service delivery goals are met
- Monitor and adhere to compliance and associated practices
- Accountable for all aspects of the business operational performance
- Deliver a programme of ongoing process efficiency and productivity
- Set and monitor objectives and performance targets for the team
- Manage P&L, budgets and report to the Board of Directors
- Develop and monitor key business metrics to ensure targets are met
- Provide leadership and vision to the organisation
- Recruitment of staff and identification of staff development training
- Annual appraisals for staff using SMART objectives
- Review and update company policy documentation
Essential Skills
- Educated to degree level
- Minimum of five years experience in a similar operational role
- Experience in the provision of soft services
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety and HR legislation
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
- Experience in successful bid writing
- Strong problem solving skills together with reasoned decision making
- Excellent people management skills
- Ability to work productively under tight timescales and pressure
- Strategic vision and foresight
- Experience in managing ISO systems 9001, 14001, 45001
There are three divisions within the group, and these are Grounds Maintenance, Communal Cleaning and Disabled Adaptations. Our main office and recycling facility is located in Lingfield.
