Glasgow, United Kingdom University of Glasgow Full time

**Job Purpose**
The post holder will join the Institute of Biodiversity, One Health and Veterinary Medicine (IBOHVM), University of Glasgow, and the MRC University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR) where they will be embedded in the bioinformatics hub within.
The post holder will have a lead role in the support, maintenance and development of the underlying software framework supporting deployable virus sequencing projects. This will involve working closely to support team members and collaborators (often based internationally) with limited bioinformatics experience and local computing infrastructure, including the development of automated and user-friendly pipelines and GUI/web-based interfaces. The post holder’s primary commitment will be to rabies virus projects led by Dr Kirstyn Brunker and Professor Katie Hampson, focusing on catalysing and routinizing sample-to-sequence-to-interpretation, to facilitate outbreak response and inform rabies elimination programmes. It is anticipated that the post will have a flexible working dynamic to support other CVR projects (as needed), working more broadly with the team of bioinformaticians, computer scientists, software engineers and computational biologists, with opportunities to gain skills and expertise in this exciting and wide-ranging role.

7. Contribute to the presentation of work at international and national conferences, at internal and external seminars, colloquia and workshops to develop and enhance our research profile.
8. Participate in team/group meetings/seminars/workshops to contribute to the use of the GLUE framework across the wider community (e.g., with academic partners).
9. Contribute to the supervision, mentoring and training of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students and less experienced members of the project team to ensure their effective development.
10. Keep up to date with relevant bioinformatics literature, practical knowledge base, and recent advances in the field/discipline.
