Production Shift Co-ordinator

Spicers is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of black, green & speciality tea and fruit & herbal infusions. The company has 2 sites, Head Office in Ferndown, Dorset and a large manufacturing plant in Newcastle to support its blending expertise with the facilities to produce high volume bespoke tea blends. Spicers is now the chosen tea supplier of some of the largest UK supermarkets at the same time offering a broad portfolio of well-known branded teas.
We are looking to recruit a Production Shift Co-ordinator based at the Newcastle site. This is for a fixed term of approximately 9 months.
About the Role
Support the Shift Team Leader in all aspects of Operations in the Filling and Packing Area, ensuring safe systems of work are in place and are complied with, Production and Labour scheduling, Quality Management System Compliance, Product Changeovers, Data collection. If necessary support warehouse and blending areas.
**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:
**Working alongside the Shift Team Leader**:
1. Ensure the safety of all staff by ensuring compliance to existing standards and ways of working.
2. Ensure Compliance to the Quality Management System and HACCP to ensure safe food safe products are produced.
3. Ensure the production plan is adhered to and products are manufactured within the scheduled timescales.
4. Ensure machine efficiencies are adhered to in accordance with set machine speeds and staffing levels. Understand reason for not achieving standards.
5. Ensure waste is disposed of in accordance with the correct waste stream.
6. Support Changeovers to ensure they are completed in line with existing standards.
7. Ensure all relevant paperwork and documentation on required on shift is completed accurately and on time.
8. Support the delivery of effective Operator and Packer training. Assess performance prior to sign-off. Ensure training documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
9. Keeping the factory in a clean and hygienic state ensuring that staff follow hygiene instructions and Good Manufacturing Practices
10. Ensure that all production records are kept accurately.
11. Drive continuous improvement to improve machine efficiency and output
12. Write and deliver SOPS, One Point Lessons, Risk assessments.
13. Assist with packing and operating as and when required.
14. Any other reasonable duty assigned by the Plant and Shift Manager or by the management of Keith Spicer Ltd
**Person-Profile & Expectations**:
1. Production experience ideally in the food and drink industry.
2. Line Management experience including appraisals, disciplinaries and investigations
3. Motivated, enthusiastic, self starter with high level of initiative.
4. Team player, performs well within a team but challenges where necessary.
5. Excellent communication skills with all levels and all areas within the business.
6. System and standards driven with a high attention to detail.
7. Be able to analyse systems/procedures and recommend improvements to maximise productivity.
8. Is logical and understands production machinery and efficiency measures.
9. Champions continuous improvement and encourages innovation.
10.Strive to exceed customer (internal and external) expectations with the highest responsiveness.
11. Encourage multi-taking/multi-skilling; varied knowledge is considered a major asset.
12. Be fiscally conservative. A penny saved can be more than a pound earned.
13.Demand integrity, productivity and accountability from all co -workers.
