Working as one team across two Councils you will be part of a busy Planning team providing support to our ecology team in providing expert advice on all matters relating to ecology and biodiversity for planning and also assisting the team in providing expert advice on the emerging Biodiversity Net Gain and requirements from the Environment Act.

As a member of our multi-disciplinary planning team, you will assist on all matters of ecology and biodiversity.

**What you’ll be doing **
- Assisting the Biodiversity and Ecology Officer in providing professional advice to the management team, elected Members and team managers on changes in relevant legislation and policy.
- Supporting the service in the implementation of Biodiversity Net Gain.
- Providing administrative support to workstreams related to the Habitats Directive including Nutrient Neutrality.
- Contributing to the preparation, implementation and review of policies, strategies, and management plans.
- Assisting with the protected species licensing requirements.

**You must have **
- Good general knowledge of British species and habitats.
- Educated to degree level, preferably in Ecology/Biology or related science.
- An interest in the planning system.
- Effective and efficient communication skills and an ability to work with people from a wide range of organisations.
- Good observation and information gathering skills, able to identify and gather relevant and necessary information to inform recommendations.
- Comfortable working to agreed performance objectives.
- Able to make decisions within defined procedures/legislation.
- Ability to work under pressure.
