We are seeking to recruit a Band 8A Systemic Family Psychotherapist to join the CAMHS Permanence Service (CAMHS PS). This is an innovative, highly regarded multidisciplinary team who provide specialist support to Looked After Children and Young People and to Children who are placed with family members under a Special Guardianship Order and who are living in West Sussex.

We work closely with our West Sussex partners to develop creative, therapeutic, systemic and organisational solutions for the dilemmas of children and young people who have experienced abuse and neglect and have been removed from the care of their birth families. You will join an experienced clinical team with expertise in providing services of a high standard.

The post holder will hold a mixed case load of individual and family assessment and therapy alongside providing network and individual consultations to foster carers, Special Guardianship carers and to our social care colleagues. Alongside this the postholder will provide ongoing supervision for the systemic practice and thinking in the team. This will be for both children in care and their foster carers, and for children living with their special guardians. You will also lead on the CAMHS PS family therapy work with special guardianship families which includes the provision of a therapeutic parenting group. The post holder will also contribute to the team’s delivery of training for social workers.

The successful applicant will be a systemic family therapist who has experience in working with complex trauma and attachment issues. You will be encouraged to use your systemic training flexibly to develop collaborative and innovative approaches in your work.

Supervision will be provided by an experienced systemic therapist and there will be opportunities to join established Systemic and DDP special interest groups.

The role is based inShorehamcurrently.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
In order to be a successful Systemic Family Psychotherapist in our team you will be:

- Registered with the UKCP via a core professional qualification
- A recognised post graduate qualification in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy
- Accreditation in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
- A recognised qualification in one of the core mental health professions recognised by the Association of Family Therapy (AFT): Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology, Social Work, Psychiatry, Teaching (with substantial counselling experience), Mental Health Nursing, Arts Therapies, Counselling (BACP accredited) Occupational Therapy or Speech and Language Therapy OR equivalent Completed an AFT accredited qualifying level training IN OR PRIOR TO 2007

**It would also be advantageous if you are**:

- Experienced working in CAMHS (Children and Young People’s mental health services)
- Have experience of with working with children within the care system

This role offers 30 hours per week and can be worked flexibly across a mix of days though Tuesdays are essential.

The role start date is from 24thMay 2023 onwards.

MAIN DUTIES
- To be responsible for holding and managing a clinical caseload and to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the planning and prioritising of own workload and the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients, within the bounds of the service operational policy.
- To use analytical and judgment skills and be responsible for taking clinical management decisions in complex clinical issues.
- To clinically supervise junior therapists, psychological therapists or counsellors and other staff as appropriate.
- To professionally supervise and, when appropriate, manage, graduate psychologists and trainee psychologists and psychological therapists.
