**Job summary**:
This recruitment is for the Outbound Cash Team based at Chelmsford and Stevenage Investigations. If the recruitment reaches capacity, you may be posted to an alternative team.
The role is to conduct and lead financial investigations in support of the National Crime Agency’s objectives.

**How to learn more about the role**

**On Tuesday 17th January 2023 between 18:30 and 19:30, we will be hosting a MS Teams event where you can hear officers working within the NCA’s Investigations Command discussing the role in detail and be given the opportunity to ask questions.**

**Job description**:
Main Responsibilities:

- To conduct and support money laundering and economic crime investigations in accordance with NCA policy and legislative requirements and maximise the effective use of the Proceeds of Crime Act and other legislation.
- To contribute to the acquisition and development of tactical and strategic intelligence (through targeted research, open source searches, behavioural, analytical, comparative studies and/or prevention initiatives focused on serious and organised crime affecting the UK, particularly money laundering and economic crime investigations.
- To sift and analyse large volumes of data, follow complex financial trails, and seek and act upon opportunities to obtain evidential material.
- Take on finance roles within a larger case team, ensuring all legal and operational requirements are met on the way to preparing cases for submission to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) or the NCA’s Legal Department, as appropriate.
- Build effective external partnerships, collaborate with other NCA units, wider UK law enforcement, international counterparts and Government departments.

**Person specification**:
As a Financial Investigator at Stevenage you will work alongside a proactive investigation team; focusing on upstream criminality, reaching across international borders, utilising disruption tactics and targeting financial assets to maximize the NCA’s impact by seizing their possessions and securing convictions.

As a Financial Investigator on the outbound cash team at Chelmsford you will target organised crime groups (OCG’s) moving illicit finance across borders, investigating and identifying the OCG responsible, seizing their financial assets and securing convictions to disrupt their activities and protect communities from border threats.

**Qualifications**:

- The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:
- Accredited financial investigator, or lapsed accreditation within the last 3 years. Or evidence the aptitude and ability to attain financial investigator accreditation.

- Recent experience of conducting criminal, civil or regulatory investigations on complex economic or financial cases.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the criminal or civil law and UK legislation affecting agency activity - with emphasis on Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) in relation to money laundering offences, civil recovery, and/or cash seizures.
- Experience in effective operational decision making with accountability for decisions made.
- Proven experience of working to tight deadlines within a dynamic environment.
