We are looking for an energetic and inspirational clinician with knowledge and experience of healthcare improvement to facilitate the further adoption of improvement across our clinical specialties. The postholder will work alongside our Deputy Medical Director (Improvement) and Deputy Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Director as well as our wider Continuous Improvement team members.

You will have responsibility for the delivery of elements of the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Continuous improvement Strategy, focussing on the day to day of the approach, with a particular focus on leading the Trust wide clinical improvement programmes of work at an organisation level. These include a number of large scale, complex change programmes (including Always Safety First and our Patient Flow programme) requiring effective change management, strong leadership skills and a focus on delivery. Improvement support will be provided to the post-holder, facilitating the implementation of a sustained and embedded approach to embedding improvement in our clinical work across the Trust. You will also have a key role in the testing of a new organisation wide improvement model through our system coaching academy which will focus on improvement projects that span across the organisation.

You will also contribute to the delivery of the Trust’s improvement programmes which will be delivered at a pathway and local level through the Flow Coaching Academy and the Microsystem Coaching Academy. The Continuous Improvement team has recently tested a new rapid improvement model where improvements are needed to be delivered at pace and the clinical elements of these programmes will be supported by you.

You will be an experienced senior clinician (Nurse, Midwife, AHP, Pharmacist, Medical Scientist or Medic) with an interest and experience in continuous improvement and will support theDirector of Continuous Improvement in the delivery of the Continuous Improvement Strategy for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, adopting an approach based on robust improvement science. The approach will harness the innovation potential of the organisation, developing the talent of our people and placing continuous improvement at the heart of all we do, to support our purpose of delivering excellent care with compassion.

As part of the senior leadership team, you will support the Director of Continuous Improvement and the Divisional Leadership teams, in the delivery of plans, strategies and service changes to meet the purpose, aims and ambitions of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The creation of strong and meaningful engagement with patients, the public and staff is critical to this post to grow the understanding of impact of service delivery and inform both immediate and future improvement priorities.

As a senior clinical leader with an interest in improvement, you will drive and influence improvements within the Trust by working with teams to equip them with the necessary improvement skills to drive excellent care with compassion. This will build our improvement expertise in the clinical workforce to ensure that teams are integrating improvement into their daily work.
