I am currently recruiting for an intervention worker to be based in Hackney.

The Domestic Abuse Intervention Service (DAIS) provides advice, information and advocacy to victims of domestic abuse who are 16 and above, of any gender or sexual orientation and who live in Hackney. The service works with perpetrators to assess and addresstheir violence where it is safe and appropriate to do so. An Intervention Officer is never expected to work with a victim and a perpetrator from the same family/relationship unit.

As an Intervention Officer you will support, enrich and enhance the high quality effective and responsive service to provide targeted interventions that result in tangible improvements in people's lives. You will be primarily working with perpetrators ofdomestic violence on the Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programme. The programme has an early intervention focus, and will work with perpetrators to identify the risks posed and to undertake assessments and interventions to reduce harmful behaviours. As well asdelivering group work with perpetrators and individual behaviour change work with those perpetrating domestic abuse. You will be expected to have had experience of working directly with those perpetrating domestic abuse to address and change their behaviour.Due to the nature of the work, the post holder will need to work one evening per week.

You will be expected to be able to build rapport and establish a respectful, honest and supportive relationship with victims / survivors of domestic abuse and work within the community to promote the safety and well-being of those we work with. You willbe part of a team that provides duty advice and information to those who self-refer and to various professionals. Within this role you may complete home or community visits with or without other professionals (only where safe to do so).
