**Job Title: Quality Systems Auditor**

**Salary: £32,194 to £34,452 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £32,194 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £34,452 will be via incremental progression.**

This is an exciting opportunity to join the world of Forensic Services and contribute to the continuous improvement and quality of the service we deliver.

As a Quality Systems Auditor you will contribute to the build, maintenance, and improvement of the Quality Management System for the Directorate of Forensic Services that satisfies national and international standards and the requirements of the Criminal Justice System. This will be achieved mainly through the completion of internal audits across the Directorate’s different business units. You will, on the basis of evidence gathered during audits, identify improvement opportunities and provide reassurance to management of the effectiveness of the system.

**Key activities**
- Expected to work within the Forensic Service Quality Management System.
- Plan and conduct internal audits to test adherence to Directorate procedures, ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 17020, the Forensic Science Regulator’s Codes of Conduct and Practice, and other applicable standards.
- Liaise with auditees, process owners, and departmental managers to ensure that corrective / improvement action plans are agreed, implemented, and verified in a timely manner.
- Provide written reports on audit findings that identify areas of risk and describe the effectiveness of the management system.
- Provide advice and recommendations on quality related matters to staff and management at all levels across the Directorate as appropriate.
- Establish and control system documentation such as procedures and instructions and, through auditing, test their effectiveness.
- Liaise with external auditors to demonstrate the effectiveness of the management system.
- To work closely with the Quality Managers and technical staff and contribute to building and maintaining a quality management system.
- Understand and accept the core principles set out in the H&S Policy in relation to your role, duties and responsibilities and implement those principles and requirements in day-to-day activities.
- Demonstrate effective visible safety leadership, understand H&S policy and lead compliance within area of responsibility. Implement the principles and requirements of H&S policy in your day to day activities and within the teams you work/manage. Encourage open dialogue and feedback on safety issues.

**Vetting**

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Previous experience in auditing.
- The ability to clearly communicate and build relationships with staff and management at all levels across the Directorate.
- Ability to manage workloads and resources
- Competent IT user e.g., Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Confidence to work solo or as part of a team.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage customer expectation.
- Must provide a DNA sample and fingerprints for inclusion on the Staff Elimination databases.

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Knowledge of international standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 17020.
- Previous line management experience.
