**Road Safety Assistant**

**Working Pattern: Full time**

**Location: West Bridgford, Nottingham**

Via is currently looking for a Road Safety Assistant to join our Programme Management Team based at our Trent Bridge House Office at West Bridgford.

You will train children and adults in Road Safety Education and assist with the supervision of frontline delivery staff to improve road safety awareness and reduce the incidence and severity of road casualties.

**The Job**

Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Delivering a wide range of interactive Road Safety Education training to children and adults to improve their knowledge and influence their behaviour as road users to reduce the incidence of road casualties.
- Train new and existing frontline staff on site to ensure services are delivered in accordance with national standards to maintain a consistent high-quality service.
- Assess performance of School Crossing Patrols or Road Safety Trainers giving feedback and taking corrective actions where required.
- Exercise initiative and judgement on site to adapt to a variety of live situations which can occur and undertake dynamic risk assessments when necessary to ensure safety, safeguarding requirements and good service.
- Support in the development of new education and training resources delivered to our customers to promote the reduction of road casualties.
- Support health and safety management across the service to ensure health & safety legislation, policy, and best practice is fully adhered to.
- Assist with recruitment of School Crossing Patrols or Road Safety Trainers, including advertising, interview, pre-employment checks, and induction of new staff to maintain and expand service delivery.
- Undertake administration to record information accurately and keep customers/schools informed to enable service delivery, record Health & Safety information and monitor staff performance.

**The Person**

**Mainly you will be excited to support and deliver Road Safety Awareness & support our team of School Crossing Patrols, but there are just a few other things we’d like from you:

- Ability to meet the Bikeability National Standard or undertake training to gain equivalent 1st 4 Sport level or pass the Road Safety Foundation Course.
- Experience of supervising other staff including coaching and/or performance management.
- Training, presentation or teaching experience and the ability to positively influence the thinking and behaviour of others.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication and numeracy skills required when responding to colleagues, clients and partners.
- Effective time management and work planning skills with the ability to identify prioritisation and work on own initiative.
- Good IT skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office products and databases to help manage services and maintain staff information in accordance with GDPR and service delivery.
- An enhanced DBS certificate is essential in order to work with children and vulnerable adults.
- Full UK Valid Driving Licence to transport self, occasionally colleagues and equipment to venues.
