We have a new post for a speech and language therapy assistant to join our team. The post will be based in a primary school in Widnes, Cheshire

Job Purpose
Under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist, you will be expected to undertake delegated duties and report back on progress made. You will be expected to work with primary
- aged children on a 1:1 or small group basis. This will be a small caseload who you will work with twice a week. You will be expected to maintain records of the work you have carried out and the about the progress made by children on the caseload.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic person with good communication skills who enjoys working with primary-aged children. You will be expected to deliver treatment programmes as devised by a Speech and Language Therapist for children with a range of communication difficulties and presentations. You will need to be a team player and be able to integrate with Chatty Learning staff alongside the staff at the school at which you are placed. You will be comfortable using tablets and technology to support children.

You will receive regular support and supervision. We will also provide training in the work you are expected to carry out and in speech and language in general.

Person Specification

**Qualifications**:
Essential
- GCSE level study or equivalent

Desirable
- NVQ level study

**Experience**
Essential
- Working with primary-aged children

**Skills and Attributes**
Essential
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Self and time management skills
- Empathy with family and child circumstances
- Ability to handle situations with confidentiality
- Ability to travel to primary school

Desirable
- IT skills - use of apps and software
- Understanding about speech and language skills

**Job Type**: Part-time
