**JOB PURPOSE**:
To provide high quality direct work and group work interventions to perpetrators of domestic abuse whose children are assessed to be at risk of significant harm, or requiring Child in Need services. This will be as part of the Domestic Abuse Intervention team and within a context of ensuring the personal safety of those involved. This work will be undertaken face-to-face at council offices or at CFWS centres.

**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**:
Experience of working with service users either individually or in groups who may present with difficult and challenging problems.

Up to date knowledge of housing, criminal, civil and welfare rights legislation relating to domestic violence.

Ability to work proactively, persistently and persuasively with individuals who may not be willing to engage with services, using a range of techniques that encourage active participation

Ability to manage a caseload and ensure plans are developed with individuals, which have clear outcomes that are measurable and also understandable

Ability to build professional confidence and resilience, good working relationships with individuals, ability to over-come barriers to them engaging, recognising reasons for resistance to change, where tensions can exist.

Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to produce reports, maintain records, and provide data for monitoring purposes

Proven ability to recognise Child Protection issues and Safeguarding practice

Experience of providing direct support and challenge to children, young people and families with complex needs, which may include mental health, offending, substance misuse, Domestic Abuse, and educational issues.

Experience of delivering appropriate evidence-based group work interventions, e.g. the Freedom Programme or Triple P or Solihull parenting programmes.

Experience of working with issues of conflict and confrontation, and an ability to diffuse difficult situations.

Assessment skills and knowledge of risk factors associated with offenders /Perpetrators of domestic abuse.

Working knowledge of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021

Possession of a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle. However, a reasonable adjustment will be considered for an applicant with a disability.
