Panahghar is looking for a BAME to provide direct support and assistance day and night to meet the needs of BAME women and their children and men experiencing violence/abuse, and maximizing their physical, mental and social well being by providing an environment that is confidential safe supportive, and respects the dignity and individuality of each resident. You will assist the Service Coordinator and work collectively as part of a team and participate in the day to day running of the supported refuge accommodation to ensure efficient service delivery.

**Service Delivery**
- To receive, assess and accept primarily BAME multilingual referrals and intakes and follow the admissions procedure.
- To take responsibility and implement the referral process, undertake needs and risk assessment and to able to speak at least one BAME language and unsure that each referral is followed through to an outcome, assessing that individual and family needs are matched by the services and accommodation provisions.
- To be sensitive to the diversity of black and minority ethnic service users and ensure service provision recognises the implication and impact of patriarchy and colonisation, and demonstrates an understanding of the impact of racism and discrimination and how complexities of community, familial and multiple perpetrator risks impacts in the lives of women and girls and men within the context of violence.
- To welcome new BME residents into culturally sensitive accommodation and ensure a smooth and friendly settling in and issuing bedding, culturally sensitive crockery, food etc.
- To assist in induction’s and advising residents of their rights, in their indigenous language where appropriate ensuring they understand the conditions of their stay under the license agreement, House rules aims and objective of the BME supported accommodation and all relevant procedures.
- To assist and support residents to develop and maintain an atmosphere of co-operation tolerance and mutual respect within the supported accommodation.
- To provide one to one culturally sensitive practical and emotional support to service users experiencing violence and abuse physical, mental, sexual etc.
- To ensure all aspects of case work are undertaken including advice, support assistance in claiming benefits, move on accommodation, legal redress, immigration, employment/career opportunities, health and education budgeting and money management.
- To arrange and provide culturally sensitive practical assistance for service users where necessary including advocacy and liaison escorting to relevant agencies such as solicitors, court, DSS, Doctor, Health Visitors, Colleges, Housing, Social Services, CPN’s.
- To develop and promote communication ad understating of the effects of violence within BME families and communities.
- To develop appropriate relationships with all BME service users in the establishment which will provide stimulation, support and security to them and enable them to develop emotional maturity and appropriate behavior.
- To assist in formulating support plans and training programs and take appropriate action relating to Residents Support Plans and other programs devised and contribute to their reviews.
- To assist monitor and record the emotional physical and psychological developments of residents.
- To identify specific needs of service users and where appropriate refer to special agencies.
- To provide language support where necessary undertaking translation and interpretation. To ensure supported accommodation rules are understood with regard to breaches in license agreement to report to the senior support worker.
- To assist in organizing and facilitating weekly Housing Meetings and cleaning rotas with residents.
- To enable residents to become independent and assist with their self-development.
- To assist residents to move on accommodation and resettle into the community and liaise with Lot 1 services.

**On Call/Night Duty**
- To be available to undertake out of hours and night work on a rota basis.
- To receive calls out of hours from residents and the Helpline.
- To be on standby to assist on call one if required.
- To go on site to deal with incidents emergencies and so on at the supported accommodations and to receive and admit new referral out of hours.
- To inform the Services Co-Ordinator of extreme emergencies.

**Early Intervention/Prevention and Safeguarding**:

- To promote the social and emotional wellbeing and development of children in order to maximize the opportunities for successful early intervention/prevention.
- To enable the needs of children from BME and emerging communities are enabled to make full use of services providing language and culturally sensitive support.
