The Centre for Health Policy (CHP) exists to provide academically rigorous outputs with the speed and relevance of the best management consultancies. It is a unique environment bringing together policy makers, analysts, former consultants and researchers, under the leadership of Centre Director Professor the Lord Ara Darzi. We are looking for an academic research lead to support the Centre’s diverse work programme.

The CHP academic research lead will drive forward research projects related to the Institute of Global Health Innovation’s strategic priorities, with a focus on supporting a team of early-career researchers, PhD students and Clinical Research Fellows. The postholder will operate in a distinctly collaborative environment, both leading research and ensuring the wider team have the tools they need to produce high-impact research.

The CHP academic research lead role is designed to focus on specific academic priorities at IGHI and advancing training and development for other researchers within the team. They will be encouraged to develop collaborations across the IGHI team, as well as externally, to ensure their research has optimal impact in real world NHS or global health settings.

**Duties and responsibilities**:
You will be a senior member of CHP, reporting directly to the Managing Director for the Centre.

You will lead a significant programme of health policy research. You will be expected to be publishing outputs in high impact journals and supporting junior researchers at IGHI to be doing likewise.

You will also play a prominent role in IGHI’s teaching programme on courses such as the MSc in Health Policy, MSc in Patient Safety, MSc Healthcare and Design and the Digital Leadership programme.

**Essential requirements**:

- You will have a proven academic ability with a PhD in health policy, psychology, health sciences, data sciences or equivalent research background.
- You will possess advanced analytical skills and experience, both qualitative and quantitative, to support a dynamic portfolio of mixed methods research.
- You will have worked on research issues of importance to health systems, producing high impact outputs featuring in top journals and presented at conferences.
- You will be comfortable leading and directing a diverse portfolio of research, supervising early career researchers to succeed.
- You will also be a good teacher wiling to contribute to IGHI’s excellent raft of post-graduate courses.
- You will be adept at collaborating with others to achieve great health policy research.

**Further information**:
This is a full-time fixed term contract for 12-months in the first instance.
- The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview._
