**Reporting to**: Team Lead
- **Responsible for**: Researching and reporting on reaching communities we do not currently reach with our services - including (but not limited to) neurodiverse, LGBTQ+, Asian, Islamic and African/Caribbean communities
- **Duration**: Fixed Term Contract 10-12 weeks from mid-June 2024
- **Hours**: Full time, 37 hours per week, flexibility required
- **Salary**: £444 per week (£12 per hour)
- **Location**: Can be flexible at one of our 4 centres (Hatfield, St Albans, Stevenage, Hertford) although Hatfield will be the main focus of the role. Travel to our other centres and around the county will be required.

We are Mind in Mid Herts, a leading mental health charity based in Hertfordshire, affiliated to National Mind, with centres in St Albans, Stevenage, Hertford and Hatfield. We are working to reduce the stigma of mental health diagnosis and we support people with mental health conditions to create a pathway to recovery. We are innovative in creating services to improve wellbeing and to prevent the development of mental health issues. Through education and support, we aim to improve people's awareness of how to be proactive in looking after their health and wellbeing. We will not give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.

**Overall Purpose**

We have recently opened Alon’s Wellbeing Centre in Hatfield and have the exciting opportunity to use this space for new services aligned with our mission - _Providing prevention, recovery and support services in Hertfordshire to empower people to take control of their mental health._ The research question is “what services could we be running for communities we are not currently reaching?”

We want to know which of the following group/s could we have the biggest impact with, if we are able to reach them and offer help with their mental health and wellbeing.
- LGBTQ+
- People who identify as not being neurotypical
- Asian communities
- Islamic communities
- African/Caribbean communities

We would like a mobilisation plan that has a sound evidence base for us to develop current and future programmes.

**Principal Responsibilities**

**General**
- To conduct thorough research to identify mental health service needs and gaps within target communities
- To engage with community members, organisations, and stakeholders to gather insights and perspectives on mental health challenges and potential solutions
- To analyse research findings and compile comprehensive reports outlining recommendations for new mental health services tailored to each community
- To collaborate with the management team to develop and implement strategies for implementing new services and reaching under-served populations
- To assist in the planning and co-ordination of community engagement events and initiatives to raise awareness of mental health issues and available services
- Recruitment of participants with clear messaging on withdrawing consent at any time
- Cost performance indicators
- To act as a positive role model showing professional and caring attitudes and behaviour towards other team members, partners, people who use our services, and carers
- To work in a way that acknowledges the personal, social, cultural and spiritual strengths and needs of the individual

**Project and Service Management and Development**
- Mobilisation, development, and implementation of new, scaled up or pilot services
- Ad hoc reports as requested by the CEO and funders
- Analysis of performance leading to service changes and improvements to increase user and funder outcomes/level of satisfaction/perceived value of the service.

**Scope**

This role will have much autonomy requiring thought, strategic planning and will encompass the following elements:

- To plan pathways
- To work in partnership with those who need support and those who support them
- To attend meetings and training courses as required
- To attend regular reviews on progress.

**Essential Qualifications**
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant academic programme (e.g., psychology, sociology, public health, social work)

**Essential Knowledge and Skills**
- Strong research skills, including experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities for synthesising complex information into actionable recom
