**Designer**

As the UK’s leading data centre solutions manufacturer, we’re looking for a highly skilled, motivated and experienced designer to join the Dataracks team.

From pioneering products to leading designs, Dataracks has provided a range of data centre solutions to our clients for the last 34 years.

We introduced the industry’s first purpose-built data racks in 1989. Then, we rewrote the book on data centre cooling and efficiency in 2007 with our cold aisle containment solutions.

Our range of products is extensive and we tailor every project to the needs of our clients. We’ve provided solutions for the likes of Microsoft, EE, and Vodafone, and we design and manufacture every product in our UK factory.

We’re immensely proud of our achievements in the industry and continue to innovate, setting new standards in data centre solutions. We won the Ethical/Green Business of the Year 2018 FSB award for the East of England and were a UK finalist for the same award, thanks to our commitment to minimising resource consumption at our factory and using sustainable materials in our products.

**Principle Accountabilities**:
**1. **Be highly organised.

**6. **Be able to build relationships with other team members and departments.

**7. **Have good oral and written communication skills.

**9. **Design new products.

**10. **Update or change existing products and then inform relevant departments.

**11. **Design concepts, as required.

**12. **Design prototypes, as required.

**13. **Drawings (folding, welding, assembly & install)

**14. **Create part numbers, design, create BOM’s and pass onto sales and or production.

**15. **Where possible minimise waste metal work in design process

**16. **Attend kick off meeting with all departments.

**17. **Take control of project requirements i.e CAC, cage, cabinet etc.

**18. **Design product or solution based on sales ideas and customer requirements - this is not always 100% accurate or possible.

**19. **Request and arrange, if necessary, a site visit with customer directly

**20. **Purchase and organise own travel requirements for site survey be UK based or International.

**21. **Attend site meeting and survey order with or without member of sales team or with or without install manager.

**22 **Relay feedback in positive way to sales and or production in verbal and written format

**23. **Inform sales if re quote is required.

**25. **Liaise with customer over requirements for special designs.

**26. **Update drawings & inform production of changes & install.

**27. **Maintain white board of projects.

**28. **Help improve production processes.

**29. **Prove drawings for Punch/Fold/Weld departments.

**30. **Communicate directly with customers on designs.

**31. **Communicate directly with installation engineers preinstall.

**32. **Communicate directly with install team with onsite issues.

**33. **Problem solve production.

**34. **Problem solve install.

**35. **Manage Part Number system.

**36. **Produce and update Cost to Sales figures.

**37. **Test and evaluate products.

**38. **Provide technical support to sales, production, assembly, and customer.

**39. **Liaise with suppliers.

**40. **Attend and or arrange kick off meetings.

**41. **Program sheet metal parts for punch press, as required.

**42. **Complete accurate drawings for ports and assemblies, as required.

**43. **Complete accurate surveys, as required.

**44. **Input ports and assembly on the Mietrak, as required.

**45. **Strict adherence to health & safety procedures at all times.

**46. **Any other duties for which you have the required skills.
