Scottish Enterprise is Scotland’s national economic development agency. It works with partners in the public and private sectors to find the best opportunities to grow Scotland's economy in creating more quality jobs and a brighter future for all.

Our Internal Audit team delivers the full suite of internal audit services across a partnership of five of Scotland’s public sector organisations: Scottish Enterprise, South of Scotland Enterprise, Clyde Gateway, Skills Development Scotland, and the Scottish Funding Council.

We're looking for a dynamic, ambitious, skilled, and experienced Lead Auditor to join our high performing and friendly team, delivering internal audit services across the shared service partner organisations.

Our team has recently won the IIA Outstanding Team Award (Public Sector), reflecting the success of the partnership model, our EQA outcomes, and the very positive reputation of the service with our stakeholders. We work in a very dynamic environment, with a focus on a mixture of real-time auditing, advisory, and insight activity, alongside our core assurance programme.

Our audit team also maintains consistently high staff engagement scores, reflecting the positive values and culture we have developed in both Scottish Enterprise and the team itself. We take pride in delivering a high-quality audit service to help our organisation and the partnership bodies to achieve great outcomes.

**The difference you'll make**:
You'll be one of our Lead Auditors, contributing to the delivery of an effective internal audit shared service, by undertaking audit assignments that provide independent and objective assurance.

This role supports each partner organisation to accomplish its objectives by bringing a professional, systematic, disciplined approach. You will also be a trusted advisor to our partnership bodies, understanding shifting risk profiles combined with an ability to identify pragmatic solutions.

It's an exciting time to join our team, as we consolidate our approach across the organisations in a new hybrid environment, and seek new ways to add value through our service. Against a backdrop of wider change in the sector, the role of internal audit is highly valued by all partnership bodies. Working across the various stakeholders will give you a unique opportunity to be involved in cross-cutting work and to provide insight.

Internally, you will also be contributing to our internal continuous improvement programme, as we seek to refine ways of working. You would be fully supported through our excellent internal training arrangements.

You will be based within Scottish Enterprise. While the team primarily works from the Glasgow office, we have offices across the main cities in Scotland, operating on a hybrid working pattern (with flexible homeworking arrangements).

Maintaining a positive work-life balance is inherent to our ways of working in the team and the wider organisation. You would also receive an excellent ‘gold standard’ benefits package as part of the role, with a commitment to personal and career development to give you wider opportunities within audit or other operational areas.

**The qualities you'll bring**:
Your skills, abilities and experience should include:

- A professional internal audit or accountancy qualification (or evidence showing you're working towards one) with current membership of a Consultancy Committee of Audit Bodies (CCAB) Institute (Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland, Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, for example) or other appropriate body such as the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors)
- Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing modern agile, risk based internal audit approaches and techniques
- Proven experience of negotiating and communicating with senior management across a variety of business areas
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- High levels of verbal and written business communication skills
- High levels of understanding of corporate governance and risk and control environments
- Ability to manage and prioritise a complex and demanding workload
- Relevant knowledge of relevant public sector requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience in producing high-quality reports for senior stakeholders, ensuring key messages are presented clearly and appropriately for the intended audience
- A curious, inquisitive mind-set
- A self-motivated, flexible and adaptable work ethic
- Good problem solving skills

**What we offer**:
If successful, you'll gain access to the following benefits:

- A competitive salary
- Membe
