Chesterfield, United Kingdom Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Are you passionate about addressing health inequalities and interested in supporting a wide range of staff to engage with the people they work with better? This new and exciting role will do just that, using psychological insights to develop and enhance training and support to staff working across Derby and Derbyshire.

As an Assistant Psychologist you will be at the heart of the development of the Quality Conversations facilitated training content. You will work with the QC lead and procured training facilitators, using psychological insights to develop creative solutions and new initiatives to improve learning. You will also be involved in service evaluation, audit, research activities, and implementing evidence-based practice.

The Quality Conversations Programme is a well-established training programme to support staff to enhance the way they listen to and engage with the people they work with. Through evidence-based experiential learning activities, participants learn about the impacts of health inequalities, and practise approaches to enhance listening, facilitate strengths-based approaches, and use behaviour change techniques.

You will be joining a small but friendly, supportive, experienced and aspirational team and will have access to excellent supervision and mentoring opportunities.

If you think you have the skills and shared interests to make this job the one for you then please apply

This job will be focussed on developing thewell-establishedQC training programme. The training is delivered virtually by external facilitators who deliver the content we develop. As such, this post will be about working with the QC team and the external facilitation company to develop a range of training resources that will be delivered for the next 3 years. The facilitated training is aimed at all staff across Derby and Derbyshire who are ‘front facing’ and interact with patients, clients, service users, families, and carers

The Quality Conversations Programme team and Health Psychology Service are two welcoming friendly and forward-thinking teams that work closely together, and the post holder will be embedded in both. The post holder will benefit from working in a supportive and empathic environment, and with colleagues that will be looking to support them to develop a role that builds on their strengths, within the remit of the post.

Our purpose is to provide community health services to a patient population of over one million people in Derbyshire and Derby, as part of Joined Up Care Derbyshire.

We employ around 4,200 substantive staff, caring for patients in 11 community hospitals and more than 30 health centres, as well as in clinics, GP practices, schools, care homes and, increasingly, in people’s own homes and via virtual consultations.

During the pandemic response we have led the implementation of public vaccination centres in collaboration with partners across health and social care.
